Finally.  After just over 10yrs, the Challenger makes it home.  It did have to be the most stormy day so far this year.  Heavy rain and wind the whole time we were moving.  We were soaked to the skin.  But as you can see, it made it.  Now I get to work around my stupid garage with the post in the middle.

See the rest here (there weren't many since it was raining so hard):  http://picasaweb.google.com/peterroshouse/ChallengerHome#

Very cool, I love the color. Geting it home is such a HUGE deal. I can't wait to see mine in CoLoR.

I had a combination of wanting to hug it and eat it since it looked so good.  Kinda weird but I'm super happy.

That's kind of a long story.  It was based on the guys doing the body/paint.  The first shop it was at is a friend of mine who was doing the work on the side when he had time.  That didn't happen often.  After quite a long time of that, his wife got leukemia and he had much less motivation to work on my car, as it should be.  It finally came to the point that he said it wasn't going to happen.

I then found another guy who was going to do it and as soon as we agreed on the work, his landlord sold the property and gave him (his business) 30 days to leave.  After a while of moving to different buildings, trying to deal with local authorities to get the booth set up, I got it to his shop (3yrs ago).  Other work was put in front of the Challenger many times because of profitability to get the business back on track.  Some work did take place, but it was slow and inconsistent.

This brings us to where we are today.  It was an interesting ride, but I'm glad it's done.  The other thing was that family, kids and other priorities had greater weight during this time and while I wanted it to be done, the reality was that it was probably a good thing(TM) that it wasn't.  Now my oldest son is almost 12 and really wants to be involved in the build so I think is more important than having it earlier.

No hemi yet.  Which one is still up in the air.  The engine will likely be the last thing I work on so that when it's ready to drive, it's really ready to drive.

I've been dreaming of a 6.1 but realistically will end up with a 5.7.  I have a possibility of an original 426 though that isn't a sure thing.  I have a long way to go.

Ok, It's been a long time since I updated this thread but significant progress has been made. The dash has been re-done and installed, sound deadener installed, the fuel filler is in, the heater/ac box has been rebuilt and installed, the steering column has been rebuilt and installed, misc trim has been installed in the interior, and the marker lights have been re-done.

This weekend I worked on getting the turn signals ready to install. I polished the trim, re-painted the black trim, repainted the inside of the light houseing and hand polished the lenses. They turned out really good. The rear lenses were about the same as the front, just needed polishing. I still need to re-work the one on the right, just showing for comparison.

Up next will be installing the lights and then working on the fuel and brake line installation, rear shocks, and fuel tank. Then the bumper and rear valance. I'm working my way forward. The car will be on the road this year.

The shell and parts look top notch!

Well, once the car came home at the end of 2008, the housing market was such that we decided to make a move. Smaller house, more property and hopefully a shop. All of 2009 was preparing the house, selling the house, and living in temporary housing. 2010 was moving in, getting settled and completing various projects around the place (1/2 the square footage, with large property and shop).

I did start a few projects on the car, mainly cleaning the chassis and giving it the black bomb treatment. I don't want to be afraid to drive it. I also installed the sound deadener. With many of the house projects done, I started doing more projects in 2011 though it was slow without the budget to go whole hog. This fall we decided to finish the car which meant allocating the proper finances to the project. Then it was about ordering many parts. Now I have a lot of parts and I'm working heavily when I can on making headway.

Also, rebuilding the AC box and the dash was a complex challenge of determining and finding the right parts since the car was originally a non-ac car. It was a slow process. Now that the dash and column are in, which is probably the most complex part of the car, the rest of the projects are relatively straight forward.

After I get the lights ready to go, the next project will probably be recovering the seats. The original blue interior would look pretty bad with the purple paint. White will look a lot better.

Since it's getting more exciting, I'll try to keep this thread more updated.

Finally was able to make some progress. Was out of town this last weekend and also had to do some maintenance on the daily drivers. It wasn't much progress but the tail lights are finally in. Was able to finish the detailing and re-build and they turned out pretty good.
