Stainless Steels lines....Done!!

I'll make a long story kinda short... We were doin some work on NIKKI last night. My buddy accidentally put a hole in one of my (NEW) stainless steel fuel lines!!      So we had to cut it all the way trough and do the rubber hose/clamps routine to stop the leak. This is NOT an acceptable permanent fix but it got her home. Ideally I was thinking some sort of compression fitting (but for stainless). Nothing on inlne tubes web site, checked NAPA online too... nothng for stainless..      Anybody been down this road?? What was your fix??  Other than another new line...

Hey BIGS, they are 3/8" lines right? I have gone to Salvo Auto Parts (it may be local to me only) but they have a chest of drawers with different types of fittings. But you can definitely use a compression coupling, as long as the diameters match. I have a Brass one on my Trans return lines as we speak...

what size stainless?  I had a bucket with 316 stainless unions and stuff. I gave Go-Fish a bunch of 1/2 stuff. I may have a 3/8  not sure of 5/16 tho

Please do not use a compression fitting on brakes.

The proper way is to flare both ends and put a fitting between them.

That or replace the line.

Pardon my slow return... internet probs here this morning. A brass comp fitting is not compatable w stainless steel. We tried it , different dia's.  This is a 3/8 stainless line (from inline tube).

I'll stop what im doing and see if I got it.  I can ship monday. I believe I may have 3/8th  316 stainless coupling. I'm sure it's what you need. I was waiting for a sure size...ALAN

I just checked. I only have 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch left. I have 3/8ths stuff too , but no 3/8th couplings left.

If you have a friend that works in a plant, he can probably go to the instrument techs supply area and just get you one. They are real common.

an industrial supply store should have it.   They are common. I usually grab hand fulls at the plants and bring them home. All my hot rod friends use them for their fuel systems on race cars. Half inch dual lines and 3/8 return

Sounds like Grainger to me! I do have an account there tho rarely use it, but since they only sell to business's it may come in handy on this one. Thanks for the info Alan you probly saved another disaster on C-C!

Stopped at Grainger today.  3/8 Stainless comp fitting...... 24.95  And of course they gotta order it..  ya need it, ya need it right??
