471 Magnum joins the club
« on: October 04, 2008 - 09:28:50 PM »
Hey everybody!

I'm probably not a stranger to many over here. I spend time over at Moparts.com, DodgeCharger.com and RoadRunnerNest.com.

With my recent acquisition, I figured might be time to make an appearance over here.

I just recently purchased a 72 Cuda project from a friend. I've never owned an E-body before, and I'm starting with a "kit". I'm sure I'm in for more than a few challenges as this project progresses. :banghead:

Previous Mopars (in no particular order) include a couple of '69 Dodge Charger SE's, a '70 Satellite covertible, and two '71 GTXs.

Attached are a couple of pictures of the 'Cuda. It is pretty much just a shell at the moment with a little bit of the interiorand most of the wiring installed. No motor. No drive train. No suspension.

It comes with a disassembled 440 and a 4 speed, but I'm not sure how much of that will get used.

My friend that started the project just ran out of motivation. I've had interest in the car for about six months, but just recently sold my GTX and acquired the funds and freed-up the space to get it home.

At this writing, I don't have the car in my garage yet, but I hope to drag it home this week. I'll post more details as I get into it, and I'm sure I'll have a boatload of questions along the way. :clueless:

:cooldancing:  Welcome, to the e-body gang.  Glad to have you here.  Your '72 is looking great, eventhough there is still alot to do.  The finished product will be worth it all!

What are your plans?

I've been dragging parts home all week. The car will come home tomorrow. I ordered a set of brakes for it the other day.

First order of business will be to get the suspension under it. Then I'll start working on the interior.

Then I'll probably run out of money.

I need to decide what to do for the engine and transmission. I want to run a small block and a five speed, but I haven't figured how to best get there within my budget. I'll have to sell some of the big block stuff to finance the small block. I've got plenty of time to think about it though.
