Wheel poll for the Cuda
« on: October 06, 2008 - 07:21:24 AM »
I've recently acquired an unfinish project Cuda. You can read about it here.

Anyway, it comes with the Foose wheels pictured. They are 18's all around. 285-40-18 out back. Not sure on the front.

I'm contemplating using some V48's as picture on the red 72 (thanks IMNCARN8) and selling the Fooses. These are 17's. 245-45-17 and 275-40-17

 :feedback:

I'll be running big brakes, so the 17 or bigger wheels are required. Limit your suggestions to those listed please.

I don't like seeing e-body cars with wheels bigger than 17-inch. I don't think taller wheels suit these cars at all. Even very nice wheels as those Foose wheels are.

I like `em both also but the Foose wheels match the car better.

Given those two shots, I'd go with the Foose wheels that are on it, but I like Robert's wheels too.  Can you get a profile shot of your car like the one of Robert's car?  We have a couple of Photoshop wizards on here that would be able to give you a better idea of what your car would look like with his wheels.

I like the Foose wheels, but with the six-point cage, and AAR hood, the car kind of has an underlying road racer theme going. The V48s would carry that further.

Also, the V48s are MUCH less expensive. Selling the Foose wheel and tire set-up is a potential fund raising opportunity.

This car will get driven, so rolling around on 17’s is a bit more practical than the multi-billion dollar billet set-up.

On the down side, the 17’s pretty much limit me to a short 25.6” tire, where as the current 18’s are 27” tall. E-bodies do seem to look okay with the shorter tire though, as opposed to B-bodies, which pretty much demand a 28” tire to fill the wheel opening.

As far as pictures of the car, it’s up on casters right now. It has no suspension under it. In the photo above, it is mocked-up on blocks. I will take some profile shots once I get it home in the garage.

It's just me, but I don't like either one. If I was forced to choose, I'd choose the top picture. The bottom looks like wagon wheels to me. To many spokes

Yes the Foose wheels are nicer. But they are just too tall! Think about the proportions and the lines of the car rather than just being blinded by the "bling".

I like them both however the Fooses seem to fit your car better due to the custom nature of everything else done to it. The V48s look more vintage. BTW is that a stock length rear end in the car and do you know if the springs have been relocated? If you decide to sell those wheels let me know I might be interested! :2thumbs:

I really like the V48s, but I also agree that the Foose wheels do seem to fit the theme of the car better.  There are some things I could do to push it further towards the road racer theme though, like adding spoilers… and maybe a big number on the door. ::)

I wish there was something out there with more rounded spokes that more closely resembles a Minilite. The Minilites can still be had, but only in sizes up to 15”. American Racing recently discontinued their version, the Silverstone, but it was not available in large diameters either.

Keep in mind the cost consideration. Not that I can recoup 100% of the price of the wheels I have, but there is about $1700 difference retail.

As far as the rear goes, I’m fairly certain it is stock width and the springs have not been relocated. I’ll have to check confirm.

Car is not in my garage yet, although tonight I am going to try to bring home some of the parts. While I’m picking up parts, I’ll try to get some good profile shots so the resident photo-choppers will have something to work with.

I love the V48's and that's what I'm intending for my Challenger.
