Not bad there Mike.............I like the extra badging and such.  I still say the factory messed up and didn't offer enough striping and such.   Where is the fender script and the pentastar???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

To be honest, I wanted to swap out the Ram's head for the pentastar emblem, but the header panel has an indentation for the Ram's head emblem, so that is out. I still have a set of original Challenger script emblems that I have been too chicken to put on my front fenders.   :grinyes:

Very nice looking grill, Mike.

Are the hood vents functional on your car?

Are you going to think about wheels?  Call me weird/cheap, but I've seen some Dodge Ram pick ups with rims that look similar to Challenger rims.  I wonder if they'll fit?  Might be able to get them used.  :dunno:

Phil,

The hood vents are not functional on my car, but I think they are on the SRT's. I won't swear to that though. I don't see a reason as we aren't running carbs anymore.

I haven't put much thought into wheels. I would like something bigger, but why spend $$$ when they will just get abused in the winter. There is apparently a law in Maryland that states for every inch of snow we get, there has to be an inch of salt on the road.   :stomp:

I thought the hood scoops were functional. Doesnt really matter if there are carbs or not, a colder intake temp means denser air which equates into free horses. The scoops probably suffer from the same problem as most, they are too close to the hood and catch the slower air but a fresh air intake should be good for a few ponies and be cool sounding. They would sell a ton more SE's with a manual trans option IMO. Looking good by the way Mike   :2thumbs:

As it's set up now, the air is getting sucked in from down low in front of the engine, so I don't see functional hood scoops helping me much. They do offer a K&N Ram air filter for the 3.5 motor now. It's about $300, so I imagine the open hood scoops would help there. Is it worth it on a 3.5?   :dunno:

Just a guess, but I think the manual trannys will filter down to the S/E model eventually. It only make sense.

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

So, 35 years from now when you sell it for 3 gazillion bucks, will you be able to bring it back to stone stock?? LOL  B/C, here we are talking bout changing our stock third gen chally's.

My point being, 35 years ago, if there was an internet, we would be on cc.com discussing modding out our first gen challys. Fast foward 35 years and the same talk about doing it to a first gen chally is taboo.

Well back in the day we did not have a forum to talk on just had friends that gave there input on what we did.  Just can not wait to get my new Challenger.  I would have prefered to get a new Cuda but that is not an option at this point.  Will be so cool to drive it around.  Gordon
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

In answer you your question, I can put it back to stock. The only thing I would need is a new Challenger badge for the grill, as I had to alter the original to fit the aftermarket grill. So yes, I am saving the stock parts I take off.

It's a great question you posted, but I'm guessing it was easier to leave things stock back in the day without such a crazy aftermarket world like we have today.
