The 1970 Superbee that my 383 came from, was as bone-stock as it could be. It was still the correct shade of Street Hemi Orange, too. No skidplate on the K-member, but I was surprised to find a surge baffle both fore and aft of the sump. The pickup tube was the stock, 3/8" NPT unit, too. As soon as I can get under my car to look, I WILL post the number stamped into the bottom of the pan. Many of the books I checked back in 1987 (when I first tore down the engine) said that this was the wrong pan for a wedge HP engine. The same sources (save one), also stated that the only camshaft installed in the HP wedges was the one currently listed as the "resto" cam for them, with 268/284 duration. My camshaft (oe Chrysler part number, too!) was a 276/292 unit, as listed in a couple of books, and in a specification manual I used for checking the cam against the stock specs by, part number, from the manufacturer. This same manual listed camshafts from all American carmakers, and I feel it was a trustworthy source. I just wish that I had kept the camshaft now, because there has been some dispute over the correct cam for a 383HP engine.
