Newbie from Ma checking in
« on: October 07, 2008 - 09:00:23 AM »
Hi Everyone,

I have been lurking on the site for a while, and finally decided to take the plunge and post up. I have been reading the site and it seems like you have a great group of people! My wife and I live in the MetroWest area of Massachusetts (although I am writing from Prince Edward Island, Canada as we are visiting relatives here this week) and are blessed to have three Mopars, one being a 70 Challenger R/T which we acquired in 2006. The Challenger has a mid seventies metal flake paint job on it and is a former street/strip car. I bought my first Mopar in 1985, a 71 Barracuda slant six three speed car, but have had b-bodies up until we bought the Challenger. I didn’t want to get the “this thread is worthless without pics” signs, so I took the liberty of including a couple of pics of the Challenger.

Take care everyone!

Welcome to the site and your challenger is like stepping back in time with the metal flake paint job. They were everywhere back in the 60' & 70's. Thanks for the pictures.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

I do plan on attending the New England Dragway show on the 25th with the Challenger, hopefully no rain!

The metal flake is difficult to show in pictures, I will try to find one that shows the flake. The old school paint is a take it or leave it sort of thing, I have always loved the custom metal flake/paint look. I have seen pics of a 71 Cuda on this site (Choppintime?) that I think is totally cool!

I want to give Barry Washington a big thank you for putting Purple Haze on his Hamtramck Registry site under vintage racing!

I am attaching pics of our Super Bee and Charger. I have had the Super Bee ten years and the Charger for five.

Take care everyone.

Welcome, BeeOrange!   Glad to see you here!

I'm over over closer to Boston!  Nice see another MA Mopar guy here!  Check out the local site that Tom mentioned.  I just met one of the members last night, 340 Duster.  Runs a stroker 416, 10's in the 1.4 mile I believe.  I think he's going to try to make it up there on the 25th also.  Very nice guy named Dave.

Love the vintage paint!!!!  I think theres another guy on this site that has a '70 Challenger that has the street/strip paint also from the 70's.  Should get pics of your cars together!!!   Would love to see your car in slotted rims and fat bias ply L-60/14 tires out back!
