68 Coronet 440 4 speed dana 60
« on: October 08, 2008 - 07:29:13 AM »
Ebay auction number :150300668519

Here we have a 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T. It is a numbers matching car. The original 440 engine, hemi 4 speed, and dana 60 are still in the car. It needs a complete restoration. The motor and trans is not bolted in the car but the dana is. This car was an ex drag car that someone started and did not finish. They cut out the rear wheelwells, trunk floor, and quarters to fit bigger tires and never finished it. The car has been in a barn since 1978 and is very solid.

EXTERIOR:

The floors are in great shape with no rust through at all. The car has the original fender tag. It is a red car, that is now in primer to protect it. It has the original bubble hood too!! The door even open and close nice after sitting all these years. All the glass is good, but it is missing a windshield and the drivers quarter glass. All the parts we have are in the car, including some of the chrome pieces. The doors are rust free and so are the rockers. There is a rust spot on the drivers front fender. The fenders are off another 68 because they were putting fiberglass fenders on and sold off the original fenders, years ago. This car will need rear quarters, inner and outer wheelwells, and the trunk floor. The trunk extensions are still there and in great shape. These pieces were cut out, not rotted out, so it will be very easy to put new metal in there. I can do it if the winning bidders want to pay extra for me to buy the parts and install them.

INTERIOR:

The car originally had red and white interior. The drivers seat is black and might have been dyed. I do not have the passenger seat(currently trying to find one) or the center console. That's right, this is a bucket seat center console car as well !!! The back seat is original white and will need to be redone. I do not have the build sheet. I have the original door panels and rear panels too. I do not have the seat belts either.

ENGINE:

Original 440 is in the car. The heads have been taken off but are in the car. There is also 2 sets of valve covers for the motor. The only thing needed for the motor, other than to be rebuilt, is a air cleaner, carb, and exhaust manifolds. There is even a starter and alternator. No power steering pump, as this is a manual drum brake car.

TRANSMISSION:

The original 4 speed comes with the car too. It is an 18 spline trans. It has been disassembled but it is all there. Even the shifter assembly. The drive shaft is there as well.

REAREND:

The original Dana 60 rear end is still in the car. I am unsure of the gear ratio, but if someone wants I can retrieve it if the tag is still on it. It is not locked up at all, because we have been pushing the car in different spots and it rolls just fine.

I am sure there is something I did not cover so if you have any questions or would like more pics, please email me and I will get them to you or call me at 630-688-5113.

The title is clear and has been submitted to the state for a fresh new title. The previous owner did not have a title as his state does not require one, so I applied for it and it should be here shortly. The VIN is WS23L8G175243.
I am asking $7,500.00 for this car and all the parts. This car, when it is done, is worth over $60,000 to 80,000.
This is for local pickup only but may deliver for a fee of $2.00 per mile. Will deliver for free if you live 100 miles or less from me.

To who?  Have you seen the market lately?  If it was a Hemi car it wouldn't be worth that when done. :screwy:

This is a for sale ad, not a let's bash this guy because he is hopeful. I am just trying to sell the car.  If you're not in the market to buy it then keep your comments to yourself. Everyone knows the market is crap and whomever buys this car, knows what they are worth.  Maybe I am a bit high, but they have been selling for high dollars.  Maybe not as high as 2 years ago, but it is still a high end car. So go back to your ford and chevy sites and bash them there.

We call it, '' COMMON COURTESY  ''.
That's when you disagree, but you have the good taste to keep your mouth shut. I suspect that most of the folks on this site are big boys and girls, they can figure out the value of these toys all by themselves.

It's kinda like this, you're walking down the street with your wife, who happens to be fat and ugly. You would hope that people don't take the time to stop and tell you that she's fat and ugly. That's just the wrong thing to do. See, it's not really very nice. All you wanted to do was go for a walk, and some dipstick stopped you from doing what you intended to do and screwed up your day. Shame on him!!!

Now please don't misunderstand, I AM NOT calling anybody's wife fat and ugly, I'm just trying to make a simple point here.
Now let's all play nice, the man's trying to sell a car here and you guys are not helping the process.

Have a nice day kidsjavascript:void(0);

I'll repeat my post from your other thread challenger71...

"If I wasn't deep into the process of my Challenger, i'd be all over that. Sounds like a great ride when finished. Best of luck with the sale  :) "

I am curious about something though. Was it a disk brake car? Again, good luck with the sale. I think someone will wind up with a sweet project. Just my opinion as I happen to like 68 - 70 Coronet R/Ts

WOW!! This isn't a Viper board!! No need to bash this guy. I think the price you are asking is very fair, probably not a 60-80k car, but your asking price is very reasonable. Good Luck

Agreed, the asking price is more than very fair. The Dana, hemi 4 speed and 440HP are worth a good chunk of change alone. Just becuase there's a disagreement in the upside value there's no need to treat the man as he's asking 30k saying its worth 60-80k.

I agree also.
The value is in the eyes of the beholder.I think the production #s on a big block,4spd dana car are pretty low and if it was a Hemi car the value would be quite a bit because I think the production #s are very low and they arent making them anymore.Just my 2 cents.

:iagree: Very fair asking price! And it's a whole car pretty much, not a bag of parts...

Look at this link.  http://www.dodgecoronet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8362

Here's some text from the classified ad on dodgecoronet.com regarding a '68 Coronet R/T 4 speed in the above link, and he's looking for $13K.

"1968 Coronet R/T 4spd (NOT a clone) - This one is the real deal, but needs real help. Purchased almost 8 years ago, it was always his dream to build this car into the MEANEST R/T ever. His quandary though, was, this is a REAL car. One of only a handful or R/T 4spd cars made it even tougher. While the original engine is long gone, the original Dana is still with the car (and is completely restored, by the way, and ready to bolt on.... if only the car itself was ready). The car comes with the infamous 'tear drop hood', and is just about as rust free as you can get, a very nice deck lid (in addition to the one on the car), and numerous parts (4spd console, original exhaust tips, instrument clusters, 23 spline 4spd, bumpers, extra front clip including frame rails, etc.) Honestly, there are tons of parts for this car, just have to dig them all out. Sadly, though, this one must go too, and the new owner will also become the proud owner of all these parts as well (heck, I even think there is a 440 block for it somewhere in the garage as well). This one is for quick sell, as the sooner we can clear it out, the better. Oh yeah, Clear Texas Title on the car too. Asking $13k or best reasonable offer. I will be happy to supply any additional pictures/information to SERIOUS buyers, but must ask, please, no picture collectors or tire kickers."

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Chargerdave,  even if I did find an exact match I would not want an apology from you even if you were to give me one.  Hey when was the last time that you bought a car based off of what the previous owner thought it was worth and not their asking price? Hey, This car is at a great price and is a great start for someone so go back to the newbie section and show off your car, if you actually have one. I buy at least 4 cars a year and have done it for the past 20 years. I notice that you like to talk a lot of crap on here.  Do us all a favor and go hang out with the Ricer crowd.

I'd like to clear up that all I was saying that his restored price was high, not the project price!  I also like you guys think its a good deal.  If I didnt have a Challenger I would definitely think about it, its not too far.

Good luck, it should sell.   :2thumbs:
