Thanks everyone. To answer your questions on the holes. All rust areas will be cut out and repaired correctly. I picked up a new 1 piece AMD trunk floor and both AMD lower rear patch panels for the lower quarters.  He will undercoat the bottom of the trunk floor when it is replaced and blend in to the previously undercoated area.

Life, my daughter's medical situation and a bad back have kept me from doing too much on it lately. I did get the headlamp buckets and side marker retainers lightly media blasted yesterday and shot them very lightly with some clear to keep them from rusting. Perfect world, I would have them replated but the car is a REPLICA and it's going to be driven so I have to keep some things in perspective as I go along. Here are some pics of what I did yesterday. I also built glass dolly a week or so ago to move the glass around the garage and hopefully keep me from kicking it by accident. The car should be going to the body/paint guy in a month. While he is working on the body, I'll be working on restoring the Steering Column, Front suspension and some other odds and ends.

Been quite a while since I have updated this post. Originally, the car was supposed to have been painted or close to painted at this point. However, the painter I originally decided on flaked out so I have a new Painter/body guy and metal fab person I am working with. Took a while to find them but things are back on track. Sheetmetal/rust repair is going on now and I hope to have the car ready for final bodywork and paint in July.  Here are some recent repairs.

The car had a 70 driver side fender and a 71 fender. The hood bumper is in a different location so I had the 71 fender bumper mount moved back to the same position as the 70 Fender. Also filled in the gap on the front flange area.

Additionally, I'm attaching some before and after pics of rust on the trunk lid lip. The trunk lid was very solid except for the spots shown. Rust was cut out and new metal welded in. I thought it turned out pretty well. The cut-out around the trim mounting hole is not shaped exactly correct but is pretty close.

Thanks. I'm looking forward to getting it painted also. I dropped off some suspension parts this morning to get them blasted. I have some more photos that I have been trying to upload but it keeps saying the upload folder is full and won't let me upload anything.  :banghead:

Now that all the rust has been repaired on the removable panels, we took the car shell over for rust repair yesterday. The trunk pan, lower quarters and rest of the rust areas will now be cut out and repaired. Here's a few before and after repair pics and car body heading east bound and down.

Sorry, I get excited, we don't have Cracker Barrel on the west coast....

Good to see things moving in the right direction!

You are doing some amazing work and the documentation is terrific for which we all thank you.  I can't wait to see more of your progress.

I understand the importance of a sence of accomplishment and the joy this undertaking has brought, but I was wondering if you had penciled an estimated budget for this project and given some thought as to what value it may have once completed.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Yes, Cracker Barrels are all over the place around here. I have one about 3 blocks from my house. If you ever come out this way ntstlgl1970, I'll buy you dinner. In the mean time, I can send you a bag of grits if you need a southern food fix.  ;D

Good questions. Have I penciled an estimated budget? Answer: YES, I did when I first started the project. I plead the fifth on whether or not I have exceeded it.  ;D

Have I given thought to value once completed. Answer: YES, however it has changed quite a bit since I started the project and the economy has tanked. If the car were done 3-4 years ago, I'd probably make decent money on it. Selling it completed today, I'd probably break even. However, resale was not my first concern. My goals with this car were to make it the nicest car I have done to date (finances allowing) and to work on my patience throughout the process. I have never taken a car apart to this degree nor restored each component as I am doing. I know the car will not be perfect or a "blue chip car" but it will be one of my biggest/best restoration accomplishment to which no price tag can be given.
