Can you use .86 torsion bars part# 774 and 775 with a 440, I know that physically you can but will it lead to problems down the road? :dupe:

If you already have them, yes, you can use them.  They will hold up the car, and drag cars have used small torsion bars to promote front end rise for years.  They will be softer and will not handle as well as larger ones.  If you are looking at buying them, get larger ones.  Something in the 1" range really helps handling.  These cars were sprung too lightly in the front to begin with.   :2cents:

:iagree:   if your buying go bigger but if you don't know what to expect you might try what you have & see. FWIW   back when the idea was to use as little spring as you could get away with & use heavy dampend shocks...not the way it's done nowdays

You will want the bigger torsion bars, believe me.  Within 2 days of swapping in my 440 (replaced a 340), i scraped the bottom flange of the headers on the ground when I hit bumps several times.  The 440 adds a bunch of weight, and it's worth the money.
