one step forward, 2 or more back, but still pressin on!
« on: October 13, 2008 - 12:11:02 AM »
so here is how my 71 currently looks after the bum paint job. the black spots are simply where some "investigative procedures" were takin revealing a lot of bondo... the plan now is to repaint the engine compartment and jambs (possibly black not sure i'm goin citron again) then get the car up and running. and note i did have a rally hood painted with the car, but after further investigation of some cracked bondo, i found the hood was pretty much trashed. so i got a flat hood that will eventually become a shaker. the black primer pic was before it was painted obviously and before i rebuilt the front suspension. i kinda liked the primer black "Rat Machine" look!

Hang in there. I know I have had to do some things more than once before. It stinks but in the end it's worth it. The Rat Rod look is in ya know.

just be patient man ...

thats something i had to learn the hard way ...

we had everything planned we were suppose to be done with my 71 chally on Aug 11th ... my birthday ... BUT upon further inspection... the car , to the naked eye looked done ...but for us ... it still needed a transmition adjustment, allignment, new radiator, shocks, hood adjustment, timing adjustment, lol and gas lol but now its running great ... its not done completely BUT its a driver ...

That sucks about the bondo problems, but at least you'll end up with a nicer, bondo-free car when it's all said and done.  Oh, and you acquired your E-body around the same time I bought mine (I believe I was around the top end of 16-years old).  Just a word from experience...College tends to eat up whatever disposable "car fund" income & time you have (when home..5 hours away), so it may end up sitting for a while (see signature photo below).  It's been like that since I was 18 (recently turned 23).
