Battery Cut off What works best??

Hey guys,
I have a trunk mounted battery and want to install a battery cut off. I will never race this car but would like to have it just to prevent battery drain. Anyone have any suggestions as to the best brand or type? Not sure if it matters but I have a Optima battery (yellow top) 870 amps deep cycle with side mount posts.

Cole Hersee has them as well , any HD 40amp + swicth should eb fine , I have never had a problem with them

I ran the Moroso for a couple of decades and it never let me down.

40a for cranking the car up? Off the top of my head the moroso is in the neighborhood of 175a or so. Quite a jump...

Even if you dont race it. It should be mandatory to mount a cut off if the battery is in the trunk

If you run a cutoff switch, you have to also install a relay to your alternator field to kill it when the switch is shut off. If not, if the key was on, and you bumped the switch off, the car continues to run off of the alternator without a battery load. The current goes sky high, and you burn out EVERYTHING electronic in the car.  I had to change out every light bulb in the car once.

Not if you run the charge wire from the alternator back directly to the positive terminal of the battery.

I have mine able to shut the drivetrain off from the alternator and battery. No problems, no delay, flip the switch and its OFF. Only thing I do have that stays on is my alarm, and radio (presets/time/etc).

Does anyone have any thoughts about a remote master battery disconnect switch such as the Ron Francis unit? This is where you can run the small switch somewhere that is concealed like under the dash but still get to it if you need to.

Running a relay to prevent battery drain wouldn't be very effective, however.
