:2thumbs: air systems are good on the right application.

E-body Mopars do not come under this catagory because of the week crossmember design.

:iagree:  Not only E-body Mopars but I've heard about an old Camaro that when you pop the trunk you could see the air shocks poking through the trunk pan!  :faint:

:iagree: Yep, right application, they are helpful.  My Dad had a '74 Chrysler town and country wagon and I remember as a kid going to the gas station to pump up the rear when we loaded up the wagon for vacation.  :grinyes:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Springs are designed to hold up the car and smooth out the road, keep the tyre on the road, its that simple.
Shockers are designed to dampen the occllications of the springs.   :wow:

Aussie,
I think you would have to get the BIGGEST WORD AWARD for the use of OCCLICATIONS...... You can't go using words like that on an uneducated boy from Indiana, heck, that's just plain old mean.
I can't even find that word in the dictionary, and, I almost didn't find the dictionary. I think it was under a spring or a shock or something...

I'm gonna have to go back to school!

I've had air shocks on quite a few E-bodys with no crossmember breakage.  :dunno: I don't think it's as weak as it's said to be. At least if it's not rusted to hell. I'd rather have that than just a stud into the floorpan of the trunk like many of the Musclecars had.  :clueless:

The correct spelling is '' OSCILLATION ''.
An undamped spring-mass system is an oscillatory system. I got the from the dictionary. I feel like Forest Gump.....................

Which leads me to this question, do air shocks have damening?

IMO  no our roads are rough & just cruising pounds the suspension , as said before the crossmember is not very heavy & is not designed to take the loads air shocks put on it , I have seen cars with the shock holes worn oval & you can generally tell if the car had air shocks on it for a while.........
:iagree:
I had a car where the rear crossmember was pounded bad by air shocks...holes worn oval and all like CP said.
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

Look away....far away.... see the pretty add-a-leafs, now close your eyes I imagine a nice rake to your car & a smooth ride.... you are happy & satisfied in the fact that forever more your car will ride smoothly and the extra cash in you pocket gives you a warm feeling.

I was close on the spelling without looking it up  :walkaway:
air shock should be Damned
yes they do have dampening inside as they not only support the weigth but control the movement as well
