I wouldn't put anything on the gasket.
Trans does not need to be "hot"

The tranny fluid stinks as I have learned, but you can pull this off.   :2thumbs:

THANKS for all the good advice. The gasket goop that the parts store guy talked me into sounded like a bad idea at the time, but I picked it up knowing that I could return it. I'm glad I checked with you guys first.
You know, every business has a guy that '' KNOWS EVERYTHING '' and has to tell you all he knows. The guy that told me I HAVE TO HAVE THIS to put the gasket on is one of those guys. He's a nice guy with good intentions, but a real pain in the old pooper.

I plan to do the poor man's flush Saturday, my Wife will be out of town (PERFECT), I'll have my brother or one of my buddies be the third person in this deal.............................

Got it done.....................
That is a messy little adventure, but everything went as planned. That rear cooler line was a bear to get back on, there's just no room in there.

I've got one problem, when I check the tranny fluid, it's reading WAY TOO FULL.
What's the best way to get some out?
BTW - I never found a drain plug on the tranny, I saw some bolts that looked like they '' MAY '' be drain plugs, but I'm slow to unbolt stuff I'm not sure of.......

You can unscrew the safety neutral switch, with the engine not running,it will run out there..

Yes, I'm checking it in neutral, after putting it in drive. (with a warm motor )

Where's the Safety Neutral Switch, does it have a unique look or something to help me ID it?

I think I had my son turn the motor off too soon, I think if we waited a few more seconds, I would not be in this over filled condition. You guys try and try, still the rookie goofs up.

THANKS gentlemen, it was fun to be out in the garage with my son and my brother. I've got a new slogan, '' MOPAR - bringing family's together, when your wife's not home ''

You can also drain some from a cooling line.  :2thumbs:

That line was REAL hard to get back on, I'd sure rather find another place to drain it.

Neutral Safety switch has a wiring connector attached to it.

The line at the bottom of the radiator is hard to get back on?  I'd rather take that off anyday than climb under the car and remove the safety switch.  :grinyes:

I thought you were talking about the line at the rear of the tranny that I removed to do the Poor Man's Tranny Flush, it was difficult.
I'm with you now, GREAT suggestion. I'm on it like white on rice!!!
Thanks!

I'm not sure which line it is, but one will POUR tranny fluid out, the other not so much. It makes less of a mess too, than letting it pour out the hole in the tranny and on the case and onto the pan.

The switch is hard to get out?  :clueless: It is just like removing a drain plug.

I myself would rather just reach down from the front of the car and remove the cooling line than to climb under the car, but to each their own.  :2thumbs:

Removed the cooler line from the driver side of the radiator, stuck a 1/2 gas line over the male threads on the radiator, fired it up in neutral, pumped out 2 quarts. Put her back together, came up 1 pint low, added 1 pint, ALL IS WELL...............................

THANK YOU to all who gave me such helpful advice. You guys are the best!!!
