:iagree: The 'Cuda is the 'performance' version of the Barracuda: it came with the big block 383 standard, just like the 'R/T' is for the Challenger, or 'SS' for a Chevy or 'GT' for Ford.

This was true for 70-71. For 72-74, it was mostly, a dress up package. It seem's like, half of them had 318's, even with the BS code. :clueless:

Cuda's are typically lighter cars with less options, hence boosting the performance.  Gran coupe had lots of options compared to a cuda.
The Gran Coupe had it's own vin difference also, BP Gran coupe, BS Cuda, BH barracuda.  1970-1971.

See, Lemming? Not a dumb question at all. The only stupid questions are the ones not asked. As Mr. Garrison says, "There are no stupid questions, just stupid people." Keep asking, keep learning.

Mostly just in all the options that are deleted on the Cuda models.  Trim and interior parts.  Most Cuda's are bare bones compared to any Gran Coupe and most Barracuda's.  Of course you could have ordered a barracuda model as a bare bones car but most came with more options than cuda's.  Of course, I am talking about the cars that the dealerships would have usually had made for them or the factory made under their specs.  If you were a person who went in and checked all the options you wanted then you could have gotten every option the book had to offer on your cuda.  Hope that explains what I have heard from guys who were there back then.  I can say that all the barracuda's I have had have definitely had more misc. items on them than the cuda's I have had.

Ummmm......

A Hemi Cuda with no other options at all would weigh as much or more than a slant six Barracuda with every available option.

The main difference in the Barracuda / Cuda lines is engine performance, not weight.  ;)
