Greetings Everyone
« on: October 22, 2008 - 03:18:44 AM »
I have been lurking around here soaking up the wealth of information and figured I had better get on with the introduction. Shoot, I have neighbors I have not met in 5 years.
My name is Rob Groneberg and I am in Livermore CA. I picked a user name that was an old nickname. I had used it before on another site and did not realize there was a similar name already in use here. For that I apologize. I will change it if needed.
I am the 2nd owner of a 70 Challenger R/T 440 Mag. I bought the car from a little old lady in 1981. It was my 2nd Challenger purchase. I blew it up in 88 and it has been sitting ever since. About 3 years ago I started a restoration and finally got it operational at the end of Sept. I wish I would have found this site earlier. I probably could have knocked a year off my rebuild time. I still have a few problems and a few things left to do so I'm sure I'll be hitting everyone up for advice.
I am not clear on proper protocall on sites like this but will do my best. I will try to post pictures later on.
When is a subject considered too old to comment on? Can I rip vendors who have inferior parts?

Rob, Sounds like a great car, get some pics & start a restoration tread to keep us updated.
Welcome to the family..

Best way to deal with pictures is to get a secondary photo hosting account, I use http://photobucket.com/ , upload all your pictures there & then link using the icon. This is more efficient & you can use your phto account for other purposes as well.

As for the G-Man thing, we do have several members with similar names but this could cause confusion.

  Again Welcome

Welcome , the name thing will get confusing. Maybe posting your area like ca in yer avatar will help that. The other G man is from another country. But this remark you made

(When is a subject considered too old to comment on? Can I rip vendors who have inferior parts?)

Old subjects are brought up all the time here and discussed when interesting. With all the new people coming to this site all over the world, some subjects that are considered old have not even been seen by some others.

As far as ripping vendors go............... We do have discussions on parts suppliers that don't make good on what they do, and a buyers beware pops up often, but it takes 2 sides to have a debate.  Posting experience is always helpful, but remember. There are many people on this site. All ages and all countries. So if you want to talk about  certain bad experience, Just keep it clean in the post, and let us hear the story. Some of us may have already bought parts from the same vendor.

Welcome to the site

  Welcome, G_Man!

Yep, below is the other member, George, that I confused you with.  Sorry...  :misbehaving:

Welcome to the site. Hope to see your 70 R/T Challenger. ....
George

Sound like a very cool car you have there!  Would love to see pics.

Bullitt 's idea is very good.  here's another.

This is a nice program I got from this site a while back that is good for resizing big pics into little ones so they can be posted here.

http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm

At that point you can directly upload them to a reply to a thread the way I mentioned before using the "Additional Options..." button and "Browse" button.

OR....
Then on our "test" section of our board, you can up load pics to test them out for fitment purposes, like for your avatar.

http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?board=15.0

Once on the site, you can rick click and get the "properties" info so you can post pics in other threads.

Welcome to the site!  There are a number of members up there in the Bay Area that you can link up with - I'm sure they'll chime in.  As you might guess from my referring to the Bay Area as "up there", I'm in SoCal - San Diego.

Looking forward to seeing your pics.  I agree with Wade (bullitt99) that a photo-hosting site is the best way to go.  You can also upload directly, but when the server gets full, Admin goes through and dumps a bunch of the older photos to clear space.  That's why you'll often see a bunch of broken links in older threads, particularly if the thread is over about a year old.  With an online host, so long as the link to the pic isn't broken, the photo will continue to be available.

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone. I updated my username so I am less likely to get mixed up with  G-Man. Thanks for the picture info. I have never wanted to join a photo hosting site but I may change my mind now and give it a try.
