Long story kinda short.. I went to Abq (albaqurqe) sorry, can't spell it ,abq is the airline code. Anyway drove around allot , saw allot of neat old cars but mostly pickups. Anyway , bought the sunday paper but did not look at it till tonite. Ok so there's an add for a 68 Charger. I figure It's already gone, but the wife encouages me to call. I call the guy he tells me about the car... then he tells me he's also got a 72 Chally 318 run/drive car. I haven't seen any pics (yet) BUT from what else I saw down there, while driving around... VERY SOLID STUFF!!  Could be a nice project for somebody. I think he's around 9K asking?? He is leaving for Vegas tomorrow... Nevada NOT New Mex (yes theres also a Las Vegas there too). But I'm gonna call him back next week.

Yeah there are lots of really good projects in this area. Albuquerque cars seem to have a little more rust because they are up close to the mountains which usually bring more precipitation. I absolutely love Albuquerque/Rio Rancho. So much to do and when you get the feel for the mopar scene there are some really cool cars up there.

Travelled through there Easter '07, it was snowing, beautiful area, a lot of older cars. I saw many classic's both times I travelled around New Mexico, a few old yards full of cars but all locked up with no owners in site, nobody knows who owns them so they are not for sale.

Make a trip to Gallup New Mexico and check out some of the yards there. As a key point along the original Route 66, this town has cars stacked up that easily go back 60 years.

I came very close to getting robbed at gun point by some indians in Gallup.  I was traveling through at night so I didn't see any cars.  I will have to go back there since it seems there is something worth a crap there. 
New Mexico cars are generally very good cars to restore.

Hey, that spelling looks right...      going to look  would be GREAT!!  I'm checking on some title and transport issues right now. So if I can pull a deal together I have my ducks in a row!  I will send you gas money, if we can get it together !!!! Bad thing is the owner took his wife to Vegas till sunday! so I cant call him back till after that time.

Was in the Santa Fe area earlier this year and saw the same things - lots of early cars around. Saw a 72-3 unrestored Challenger on a used car lot. How often do you see that??

BIGS....I'm live in Albuquerque right now    Let me know if you want me to check something out since I'm local. I may want the 68 Charger however    Lots of cars here, but the people are very knowledgable so don't think there are any steals.  My Challenger is an original NM car and it had very little rust so this area can be very good to metal with the high desert climate.  Here's a couple pics to get you   from lots in area.  The Charger is a real 71 R/T with the fender tag still attached and most of the 440 in place.  It's in very bad shape, but restorable if you want to spend $30K+ or so.  The owner thinks its worth $15K as is (which is stupid) so it's rusting away.    The pics make the car look alot better than it really is.  I offered $7k and got turned down.  The lot has at least 2 Cuda's and 1 Challenger not to mention other muscle cars.  Locals will not tell me anything about who owns the lot so these have been sitting for years just rusting away.  Sure would like to get that Top Banana Cuda.
