I'm losing it now.  I'm taking position on the ridge... ...for those of you who catch my drift.

I have to be realistic - I'm not going very high, but I'm going to make one last effort and then we'll just wait and see.

I spoke with the owner over the phone - VERY nice guy.  But once I proved that I could talk the Viper talk, he expressed his hope that I end up the final winner.

Wish me luck.

wow, 36,100 seems like a good deal for that..I really like the light orange interior with the black, good combo. But if you dye it just make sure it is very clean and dry, the new spray dyes work wonders and seem to hold up well. Good luck!

Very good. I had thought you'd lost it. I wasnt able to watch the bidding to the end.   Your quest is over.  Congradulations! :bananasmi

I am a self-trained Sniping professional.  I placed the winning bid with less than 10 seconds remaining.  I was thinking of "SNIPER" as my license plate.  :)

Thanks for the support, everyone.

I talked to the guy at length about it before bidding - over the phone.  This guy is a REAL nice guy - this guy fits the bill of the true Viper enthusiasts.  The other guys I met were just trying to dump them for top dollar.  This guy was the kind who would have refused a higher bid if he didn't approve of the buyer.  He wants someone who's going to continue to pamper it as much as he has.  He's even trying to convince me to trailer it home, while I want to drive it!

So yes, I bid and bought without seeing.  I trust this guy.  His feedback supports my opinion, and he even called me after the auction ended to congratulate me.  How cool is that?

I have 100% confidence walking into this purchase - something I didn't even have when I bought the 'Cuda!

Saturday, November 1st - one week from now.

Two options:  Either going to borrow my dad's Jeep, rent a trailer and transport it down (only 8 hours from here.)  Or I'm going to catch a Greyhound bus up (still only 8 hours, surprisingly) and drive it home.  The only concern is that he has a boat-load of parts to give me - all the original parts are INCLUDED.  He said most will fit in the trunk, but the stock exhaust probably won't unless we wrap it and put it in the passenger seat.

Personally I want to drive it.  I don't think I could resist driving it.  Forecast weather is low 60's, partly cloudy - no rain until Sunday.

I'm trying not to get TOO excited.  I still don't HAVE it yet, but really I'm seeing no problems on the horizon.

Cool beans.  As a side note, I would personally leave the interior as is.  It was a special order, which adds to the uniqueness of it.  It reminds me of the mid 80's Ferrari interiors.  Besides, I bet you would be well north of $5K when all was said and done on replacing/redying to get it to what you want.  Anything less than a professional job would seriously take away from the car.

As far as getting it back home, stick a hitch on the back and tow a trailer with all the parts.  I bet you would have the fastest trailer in the country.

I hear ya man but this is my VIPER...  This is a realization of a dream 15 years in the making.  I mean market and value and compromising is one thing, but you guys know as well as I do that in the end it's YOUR car, and you gotta make it what you love.

And I'll tell you something else about Vipers.  EVERY Viper owner says that their color is "unique," "rare" and "the most desirable color made."  I swear to you, bud - everyone thinks their color is special.  So whether it's this arrangement or another arrangement - it doesn't matter.  And trust me, I'm NOT buying this car with the intention of turning around and selling it anytime soon.  I'm going to put a lot of miles on this thing - value be damned!

MEK sent me info on the SEM coatings - I like the Pacific blue color.  I'm going to order the color chart and maybe one can to paint a towel or something and lay it in the car - see how it looks.

I still think that even replacing the interior would only cost about $1,500 to $2,000 if I shop wisely.  Dying it will cost me about $175 bucks!

I think you should sit on the color for awhile and see if it grows on you... I dont think you shoud "rig" a car like that by dying it..... I have a pic somewhere and you can clearly see the red bleeding through the black dye..... but whatever works for you im sure youll have fun with the car either way.......  :working:
