Seems like a lot of Mopars have "a story", thanks Barry.

Wow- I remember that "The Way It Was" story in Mopar Action- must have been in 1990 or so.  I loved that story and the other "The Way It Was" I read about a white 300F.  There was a picture of Mr. Norm's Grand Spaulding Dodge that accompanied the story- it showed enough T/As to make me drool.  Great story- I love hearing the history on these cars!  Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for posting Barry that was a great read. MCG left out alot of the little parts of the story that yours made it a lot better. So from the pics the grille was never sold on ebay or what happened with it? Any major parts never found during the roundup?

I do have several more stories. Some of them (like this one) are even true.  ;)

Lunch,
After Dennis contacted David, (then contacted me so that I could contact David) the auction was cancelled. The grille stayed with the car.

The only thing I can think of that we did not find was the bumper jack assembly.

One cool detail that is not in the story.....

Once we had the car back at Dave's place, I was dead tired. It was a hot sunny day, so I stretched out in a lawn chair on his back patio & slept in the sun. When I awoke, I found a five gallon bucket full of ice & Corona with a bottle opener next to me. Dave's wife Vicki is one sweet angel, she knew me without ever meeting me in person before.

I was able to speak to Mr. Norm at Carlisle again this year, and I asked him if he knew how many T/As he sold at his dealership. He said “Over 400!” he thinks he has records of all the VINs somewhere, so I hope he can find them!

That's amazing.  My dad's was one of them.

Since that was written, I have been able to visit the Mr. Norms sales records for the T/As. They are not complete, but so far I know of 104 T/As that sold there for sure.

Mr. Norm may still have his copies of the sales reports that had to be sent in to Chrylser each month. I am still hoping that he can locate them........

How often to you publish a newsletter? It would be more then worth it just to read a story like this every once and a while.

Jackie,
I recomended a cold drink & popcorn at the start of the story, but dinner works too.

Lunch,
The T/A newsletters come out twice a year. The next one due out is #20. If any T/A owners read this, I do not have any stories for it yet............ :1zhelp:

Subscriptions are available, visit this link for info;

I know the prices stated are not cheap, but with my cost for ink & postage I break even. Once I get moved east & settled in I am hoping to do put the past stories in a "collectors edition" as well.

It was a great "cap off", she even provided a WCM that evening. For those who are not eternal bachelors, a WCM is a "Woman Cooked Meal". Highly sought after!

Barry, If you want I can put you in touch with Steve. The T/A with 32,000 , sat since 78 or 79. The 2nd owner didn't pay for the paint job , so the body shop owner poured paint remover on it.  :scared:  It still had the tape and paper on the windows when Steve bought it. It was also 1 of 2 TA's sold from D.E. Stetler Dodge. The oldest Dodge dealership in PA.
