Windsheild trim

Does anyone know how to attach the windshield trim if the nobs that hold the trim fastners are gone? During the rebuild the nobs were cut off or rotted off from rust!! Any ideas??

i just removed my trim and i wouldnt trust the old retainer clips i would buy all new clips.

It's not the retainer clips, it's what holds the retainer clips that is rusted off :scared:

70 models had screws in stead of knobs. The clips screwed down then the trim installed. Window should be out to do it right tho

You can do it with the screw in clips or find someone with a stud gun (for pulling dents). They make new window trim studs that are welded on with the stud gun.
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

WS shops often repalce all those rusted studs with screws. The studs didn't last long in most cars.

Or use pop rivets. What ever you use (screw or pop rivet) place a little urethane sealer around the hole first to prevent moisture seepage in past the screw or rivet. small thing but in 5 years time you don't want to be showing off the car to someone and they sa "isn't that some rust coming around your windshield?"   :swear:

I tried that but the problem was the coopper grounding nozzle won't let you get a flat contact in the beveled area where the stud goes. The ground nozzle it's bigger than the ridge area the stud would get weleded to.

A couple years back I saw a guy on Moparts.Com modify his stud welder nozzle by basically grinding down the tip to fit. It appeared to work great. It looked like two flat spots, one on each side.
