Anyone ever seen one of these?
« on: October 27, 2008 - 02:45:06 PM »
I got this with a bunch of parts that came with a parts car about 20 years or so ago. Any idea what this is, beyond being a ring? Does it have any value?

I've seen the six pointed star and that dodge bros logo used as hood ornaments and such on cars from the late teens to early thirties. :dunno:

Yeah, I've seen the logo. I'm wondering if the ring was some kind of service award from that period maybe?

I've got an emblem from a car a buddy gave me that is the same, other than that  :dunno: Might be worth something...

I bought a new key ring 25 or so years ago that had a reproduction of the same emblem & I see items now with it for sale, any idea when your ring was made?

Other than more than 20 years ago, no clue at all. It looks a little old and beat on top, but then that could just be someone who wore it a lot, especially when working on his car  :dunno:

That is cool. It is the original Dodge Brothers logo. I bet it is pretty old from the looks of it. No telling where it came from but I bet there are not many of them around. Any marks on the inside like 10k or 14k denoting possible gold content. You might have a real rare piece of history there.

No markings that I can see. But then, my eyes are not the best.  :grinno:

There was a guy who had a 40 or 50 year award pin from a power company that his dad worked at. I ordered a regular signet ring for him and soldered the pin on it. It looked pretty cool when finished and he had something neat to remember his father who had passed on. Looks like it is all the same age and metal content from the looks of it. Hard to tell with the lighting in the picture though.

Hey CHK,  It looks to be a dash plaque or emblem from a 1920's Dodge.  Very common to find the emblems, but this is the first one i have seen fitted to a ring, looks way cool, and to find a ring the right size and shape is a cool thing aswell.  A buddy of mine has a Mr, Horsepower necklace medalion that he had a jeweler turn in to a ring and it looks as if it started off as a ring, that is how good of a job the Jeweler did.  Great score :2thumbs:
