So I'm ordering my tires and wheels tomorrow.... need feedback
« on: October 29, 2008 - 02:01:22 AM »
This is a pretty simple one. Im gonna order my tires and wheels tomorrow and I'm trying to decide between ordering 235/60x15 for the front, or 245/60x15 for the front of my '70 'Cuda. I'm putting 275/60x15's in the back. The front will be a 15x7 rally and the rear 15x8. Thoughts? Comments?

245/60 bigger is better + fills in the wells better.

:iagree:  Only reason to go with smaller tires is if you're concerned about clearance or trying to increase fuel economy.

You aren't trying to increase fuel economy, right?  :smilielol:

245-60's will rub at full lock on a Cuda, not sure about a challenger

I had 235/60x15 on the front, they looked a bit skiny compared to the 275/60x15 in the rear, so I got 245/60x15 last year, very happy with the look of them. Go 245

I run 245s on the front of my 70.  I know every car is just a little different, but there are no problems or rubbing at all on my car and they look good with the 275s in the back. :2thumbs:

I planned on putting my 255's on the front and 275's on the rear, guess I won't be able to do that by the sounds of it? I have 235's on the front, 255's on the back now.   :clueless:

I have 235X15s on the front and 275X15s on the rear of the Duster. I love the way they fill the wheel wells!

From my personal experience, I've had 3 different Cudas with 245-60-15's on them with 15 X 7 rallye wheels with standard offset. All three cars had some degree of rubbing with the tire rubbing on the frame rail at full lock. 1 car was just slightly, the other two more so.

I'll probably just buy the 275's and leave the 235's up front I guess, just want to fill out the rear a little more, for some reason I thought my old car had 255's on the front.

Dave, from the posts, sounds like some cars are OK, others are not. Best bet might be to get a set off of someone and try them and see if they clear. I'm sure alignment can make a difference. I always had my cars aligned to factory specs. The rubbing i experienced was just slight in all 3 cases, and only at full lock.

Do you have power or manual steering? Personally I like 235 up front. I use to have 235 in the front and 275 in the rear, looked great. Now I only have 255 in the rear but still works great for me.

I have 235 up front and 275 in rear. I have standard steering. With a big wood grain wheel, it is ruff to make turns now. Drives good tho :2thumbs:

Same here Al, and wider tires would make it even worse.  I wouldn't put the power unit back in, too heavy and the manual just feels better.

Great question, I originally put 245/60/15 on the front of mine but they caught at full turn and bent my front valance and part of the lower fender  :villagers:

changed to 235/60/15 in front and no rub now but the damage is done  :violin:

that's why I'm still waiting for my 'Cuda to come home, more darn bodywork!  :bricks1:
