« on: October 29, 2008 - 07:41:36 PM »
on my daily drives thru my city, i have passed a 71 challenger (cloned as a t/a) that has been sitting for a good while! I finally had the time and camera, to stop and ask if i could snap a pic or two. got permission to go ahead (rather gruffly). assuming the gentleman owned it, although he didn't say he did or didn't and snapped a few.
Now before I get the
:useless:
I was asked to not post any pics, for which i have to respect the request. So, my million dollar ????? is, who is Ben and what is his story?

i didn't want to elaborate at this point, because it's kinda weird. someone in my hood must know about Ben. but having said that, here's a snipet.

i will explain further when i have some time to sit and type it out. but for now,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I walked over to the car to snap a few,its about 36 degrees, windy out, the was setting up for my first, when the drivers side window rolls down! Talk about a shock!

so having said that, Ben asked me not to post the pics.

more when i have some time.

Alaskan Ta might have some interest or knowledge about Ben from Toronto who is also from florida? someone must have, the cars in plain view.

Is Ben a Plumber?

Wait wait wait, is the car HAUNTED?  That's what I'M getting out of rereading your second post...

No, but he is across the road from a plumber. how coincidental is that. i stopped by today, left my number on his wipers.

I have passed this car almost daily for the past year and a half to two. Always thought it was the owned by the garage who's lot it sits on. Had a not for sale sign in the window and never really interested me. Finally yesterday, I get to stop and check it out. After having Ben roll down the window and making my chin drop, we got to discussing the car(s) etc. It was rather cold and windy so it was a 10 minute chat. I like to play Fedex guy in my shorts most of the year and yesterday was not endearing to shorts! standing outside!
Ben was rather talkative (although it bounced all over like a rubber ball, tough to follow)and actually very knowligeable within our discussion.  Says hes been a mechanic and mopar guy 40+ years, knew the tag codes, new the prices of the various e-body cars etc. Also said he has property in Florida with a bunch of cars on it. ebods and abods. Some were in good condition, some not. The story goes he was booted from the US for overstaying his time down there. That was a year+ ago. So he can't get to his property. :dunno:a neigbour is looking after the property. Ben maintained from the start, nothing was for sale, which was fine by me, but did say there was a true 70 t/a and a 318 chally convert, down there.both are supoose to be in good shape. He was very proud talking about the t/a, but also very paranoid about anyone finding out where they are. The 71' car up here has been in his possession 20-21years. I almost got the impression this one was originally his fathers car.
I went back today to talk some more with Ben, but the drapes were shut. Although the conversation could be construed as somewhat delusional at times, the t/a sounded a little to serious to not have some truth behind it. the question would be, is it real or something from the past? The 71 is plated for this year and the garage guy has run a power cord out to the car. The interior is packed with stuff! I did see a 1500watt heater, so I guess he will be warm.
Everything points to Ben living in the car! I have more questions for Ben, but in due time I suppose. Ben seems to know  mopar people in Toronto, so step up if you can fill in the blanks.
Just thought this was all kinda weird!

Martin
