Friend from the past comes to visit!
« on: October 30, 2008 - 09:39:26 PM »
A buddy of mine that I havent seen in a while dropped in to see me today. He showed up in his 1970 440-6 Chally that he bought back in 1980 for 500 bucks and it a real U code car! What makes this even more interesting is that this is the first big block E-body I ever rode in back in the early 90s!! Back then it was in a little better shape but I think its neat that it has been his daily driver since he bought it almost 30 years ago. He nailed the gas as he left and despite its looks it still hauls ass!!! :ylsuper:

:iagree: :lol2:  That's really cool he bought it back in '80 and continues to drive the wheels off it.  That's one daily driver that only continued/continues to become more valuable each day. :2thumbs:

Are all those spots surface rust or does is have a bunch of rust holes in it? It is definitely cool he still drives it though.

The outer panels have quite a bit of rust (holes) going on. Good news is that the floors and frame rails are still solid. He is planning a full on resto in a couple of years.

Is it a U code or V code....... not sure as it looks to be a V code six pack sitting in the engine bay. :2thumbs:

Good looking Challenger. It definitely looks like it has been driven.  I don't know if I would restore it, the thing looks so much like the Vanishing Point Challenger. I would have to tell people it is the movie car, just to see how many people would believe it. He could tell Chevy guys that, they will believe anything.

Great car, great color and even better to hear it's going to get a resto in a few years as she looks very tired.

Thanks for sharing, I bet it brought back some nice memories for you.
