    Instrument cluster removal tips needed

    looks like I will try the group buy on restoration mentioned on this site so need tips on how to remove the rally dash cluster from my 70 Challenger...

    Drop the steering column down , remove the light bar, remove the 4 screws holding the switch panel in place , pull it out & disconnect the wires to the switches , disconnet the speedo cable , remove the scrwes holding the face plate on, & gently remove it , you will need a small jewellers screwdriver to remove the reset knobs , then undo the 4-5 screws holding the guages in place  & disconnect all the wires from he dash & lift it out

    Thanks guys.  Used this to get to mine and it worked.  We had some trouble with the switch panel--it didn't quite have enough room to come off, so my wife had to get rough with it while I closed my eyes and thought of happy things.   She got it off without breaking it. 

    Here's to getting it back in when I'm done with my work!   :cheers:

    the switch p[anel is a tighht fit & I usually recommend using some tape on the guage  face plate to protect it while removing it or installing it

    I ended up with a few very small scratches on the main bezel from the first time I removed the switch bezel  :swear:. I now always use some blue painters tape on the woodgrain to prevent more scratches from happening whenever I remove the switch panel (a few times a year for various reasons).
