if you have not already bought the stroker kit I would back down to a 430 CI engine , 450" max , at 490" the oil ring is not fully supported by the piston &  goes over the wrist pin , essentially this is now a race engine not a street engine
 the power #s you want are basically easily within reach , for a sreet engine I would use Iron heads , they make a LOT Less heat under hood , I would find a Holley Street Dom intake , go to an 850 CFM Proform carb , the girdle kit is over kill , I would be looking at a Engle K58 / K 60 or  K60/K62 hyd cam or an Ultradyne Grind for a flat tappet solid seeing as you have adjustable rockers anyway , no need to go to the expense of a Hyd roller IMO, I can help you pick a grind that will match the gearing & converter you have or want

Id run a set of Stealths, cheap and paint them and they will look factory, almost as good as the Edelbrocks, cheaper, better than the irons but not that much more expensive. It will cost you as much as a set of them to get the 906s to flow the same, plus you can add a half a point of compression. Just my two cents.

I am pretty much set on doing the same thing but since they are externally identical and I dont plan to have people crawling under my car or staring at the engine pad my plan is to use my 72 thick web 400 block. I plan on either going 470 or 500 and can easily do so without the piston problems that Chryco described. If you can afford to pick up a 400(they are cheap and plentiful) I would do that and leave the numbers matching engine as an investment protector. Good luck whichever way you go, I will be watching for the build with interest.

stroking the #S block si no issue , it makes no changes to the block that cannot be reversed except & small bore notch at the bottom of the cylinder
 your call , there were over 3 million 383 blocks cast so keeping the roiginal & using another block is easy as well

Stroking the numbers engine will not hurt it, I was thinking about if it goes "POP" Myself, I want an engine I am not afraid to push hard. In the back of my mind I would always be worried about hurting the numbers matching block.

No way in hell I'd stroke the numbers engine. Pull it, store it, and find another block for cheap. Use that one for fun. IMO, you are going too large also. For the reasons CP said. Find a 400 block and go 3.915 in it, and you're be happy long term. Do not stroke that original if you do care at all about it.

nope.. 10.1 with iron and 11.1 with aluminums.. for pump gas that is..... can go higher with a high duration cam.....
