wiper switch question
« on: November 03, 2008 - 10:12:20 PM »
have a 1970 Challenger RT/SE.......should the orig wiper switch be a toggle or twist knob?

should I have an electic washer pump switch as standard/( I had to install new bottle and pump as it did not have one)

how do you tell the diff in the electric wiper pump switch vs foot pump switch?

thanks,

Variable speed wipers w/ electric washer were standard on '70 R/T's.  The variable-speed wiper switch on the dash was a twist switch (in fact, all the switches were twist, not toggle).   The variable speed switch doesn't have any click detents other than to click it off.  The standard model Challenger came with the two-speed wiper that you clicked clockwise for low or high speed.  The variable switch has the washer switch built in. You press the stem in to activate the washer.

You might try to PM Slotts here on the site. He may have one. He is restoring all types of switches and is excellent at what he does.

Make sure you have a variable speed wiper motor first.   ;)

The variable speed switch has 7 tabs on it. This is two different connectors. One for the wipers, one for the electric washers. Check to see if your harness is like that.

Now that you have the right part #, you can PM Slotts (Jim) and he has excellent switches and better prices.  Don't confuse Jim's auto parts with Slotts.
