I don't feel that it's the job of the government to fix gas prices.  If we learn to conserve more gas during the work week, we will have no trouble paying for gas for our weekend toys.   The last few months have been an adjustment for me.  When gas hit $4 I started carpooling and driving my truck less.  It's tough because I love my Dakota, but it's been worth it and it really has saved money on fuel.

An interesting view on the root of our problems,

That being said, I think this is good a step forward in that a person of mixed race is leader of our melting pot.

I agree 100%. I did not vote for McCain because he is white. I voted for him because I want my hard work, long hours, dedication and money to be spent by ME! If you think the govt can spend money better than you....good luck with that.

When the new taxes take effect, be ready for the worst depression EVER! Save your money, you are going to need it.

That is my fear , I don`t care if he is African american or any race , we have had Liberal tax us to death & spend our $$ for us leadership for decades here , it doesn`t work , no country will ever tax itself into prosperity , I am definatly not as keen on moving south now

Color wasn't an issue with me either, I was and still am worried that hard work and success will no longer be rewarded, instead it will be taxed to death.  We'll see.

It's just ironic to me that this country's biggest problems (besides Iraq, if a war that's all but won is a problem..) are all traceable to past failed Democratic policy. Either stuff they pushed for, like sub-prime loans and NAFTA, or stuff they have blocked, like domestic oil production and Nuclear power.

Kinda like putting a motor together with 40 YO rod bolts and valve keepers and then blaming the next owner when it kicks a rod or drops a valve. It's apparently their fault because it happened while they were driving it, right? A good mechanic can look at the result of someones past work and tell if they're a hack or not. They're not likely to give you their keys and a blank check the next time if you've already proven to be one. :grinno:

Once we had Ronald Reagan, Bob Hope & Johnny Cash. Now we have Obama, No Hope and No Cash!

It was never about race to me. I just dont believe in the guys politics. He has less leadership ability than Palin when you get down to it. I hope he does some good things for our country. I think for me it was about our moral compass as a nation, we are lost in the woods and getting more so by the day. I dont know anyone who would be happy to have their young teenage daughter to have the ability to walk into a clinic and get an abortion, much less without parental consent or knowledge. I am not happy but I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, to sit back and give him the chance to do something positive. Oh yeah and with a liberal congress and president I damn well KNOW they will be trying to come for my guns, let them take the criminals guns not mine.

My Father In-law ( he's American, as well as my wife) has a saying that kinda stuck with me.
He says " In a democracy, people always get the government they deserve"
Kinda true wouldn't you say?

I tjhink the bottom line was McCain was affiliated with Bush-we know his record-and the latest bail out of the CEO banks left every American with over $100k each to pay off-left a bad taste in every ones mouth. Heck, Paris Hilton would of won against McCain. IT is too bad as someone stated that McCain never left his men in the prison camp-who would you want to run the country.. but Obama is an excellent speaker and ran a good campaign. History will be the judge.  :smokin:

I really never saw him as a black canddidate.  I saw him as a over the top liberal that wants Gov't to be the answer to everything.  That being said, I think a lot of "people of color" voted for him for the very reason of his color.  They never saw past his race like I think many white voters did.  He clearly ran one of the best campaigns in human history.  I think this election showed one thing - 2 years of campigning is absolutely ridiculous!  This guy was beating a drum over and over and over for 2 full years and a lot of people naturally fell in step with him.

On the other side of the fence, McCain blew it by voting for the bailout - period.  Had he done the truly "Maverick" thing and voted "no" he would have had Obama calling him to concede.
