1972 Satellite - Day One SPD Project Car SOLD
« on: November 06, 2008 - 05:02:18 PM »
I find myself needing to sell one of my projects way earlier than I had hoped.  What I have here is a 1972 318 Satellite that was built on the first day of 1972 production at the St. Louis plant.  The VIN is 206.  The car is very solid but is definititely a major project.  The interior is toast and it has not run in who knows how long.  I have started the body work and you can see most of the work in my project thread about this car.

I have pulled the engine and tranny as I was planning on shooting the enginie compartment and jambs as soon as the body work was done.  The car was originally gold with a tan interior.  Bench seat, column shift automatic, a/c and not much else as far as options go.  I planned on cloning it into a Road Runner and have already gotten the hood for it.  I also planned on making it blue and white.  I've got the white headliner already and I started to paint the trunk  metallic blue.  If you want I will include a gallon of the base coat with the car if you want to keep this color scheme.  I will also include a set of hood and roof strobe stripes.  I planned on using white for those.

I was asking $2000.00 for it  before I painted it.  Price is now more than that but still VERY negotiable.  The more I do to it, naturally, the higher the price.

Bill of sale only - no title

Car is located in Fort Worth, TX 76177

I still need to sell this car soon so that I can get my daily driver back on the road or replaced!

Love the paisley carpet in the trunk ;)  Hey was the previous owner large, or is there another reason that the car seems to lean so heavily to the driver's side?

:roflsmiley: The paisley carpet is actually an old comforter I threw in there to keep the parts from scrathing the nice blue paint.   The car really isn't leaning badly, the picture of the rear makes it look that way due to the angle from which I took the picture.  Plus, the shocks are ancient.

Update - i have repaired the last bit of rust on the car - the hole under the battery tray.  I am now in the process of smoothing over the multiple dings.  I spent about 4 hours yesterday block sanding it to find all of the dings and waves.  Hopefully, the week after Thanksgiving, I will get her ready for paint.  Next weekend will not be able to work on it at all because I am going to be Mr. Mom while my wife visits family in upstate NY.  I will post pics of my progress and will adjust price once I get her in paint.

Okay -I still have this one for sale and have been continuing to work on it in my "spare time."  She is now fully painted a nice metallic blue.  :icon16:   I still need to wet sand and buff her, but I figured I'd post some pics to see if anyone is interested in her now that she is a little less of a project.

Body came out pretty good but I missed a few dings on the decklid.  After she gets buffed, I will be installing a white canopy vinyl top and a set of white RR stripes.  Plans now are to install a new timing chain, cam & lifters, freeze plugs, and an intake & four barrel (thanks Tom  ;D ) as time and money permits.

More pics of her painted.  I will try and get her outside in the next day or two to get some pics with natural lighting.

It is looking good.  Shure brings back memories of working in a CPD dealership when the cars were new.  I like them but not interested in buying one.  Gordon
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development
