Anybody Know What Became of This Car?
« on: November 06, 2008 - 10:35:39 PM »
A 1971 Challenger R/T 340 4-speed was at a gas station by me until a couple years ago. This car became my dream car. I tried to buy it but the guy said it was his friends car and was a 1971 AAR Challenger. Anyway, it is black with no vinyl, black interior, no console, and a bolt going through the roof. The paint was weathered but nice with no serious rot. I guess the owner decided to sell it one day and it is now longer at the gas station. The gas station was in Ramsey,NJ. The vin is JS23H1B228908.

It is a 340 R/T car but that is no suprise as there were no T/A or AAR cars in 71. If there were the engine vin designation would be J instead of H. There is debate that a T/A might have been mocked up but nothing substantiated. What is the bolt through the roof? Sounds like a pretty cool car with a pistol gripped 340 and double black. Give it air conditioning and I would drool for it.

I know that no AAR or T/As were made in 71 that was just what he said. The bolt in the roof, I have no clue but it would make it stand out more if you saw it. I know the car didn't have A/C I saw under the hood before I knew what anything was.
