    Timing adjustment

    I set my timing to 36* at 3000rpm, with vacuum connected it went to 52* @ 3000rpm, and 15* at idle. 
    When I took car for test drive I thought it had slight ping when I got on it.
    I readjusted the timing at idle to be 10* BTC and the ping went away.  Is the correct method for adjustment?

    I leave the vacuum disconnected or at least insert an allen wrench into the vacuum pot  & limit the travel to 2-3 *

    Any rule of thumb for how much each turn of the allen nead will reduce the advance?

    Only the hex-shaped vacuum cannister noses are adjustable with a 3/32" allen wrench, the round ones aren't. Turn it counter-clockwise to reduce advance. Don't know how much it takes. Till it stops pinging??  :dunno:
