...if you have "plenty of spare time", take that time and get another job....put all the money earned from the second job in a fund for a MOPAR....at the end of a year, you can buy a far nicer MOPAR and it would be much easier working somewhere(even flipping burgers) than working on a burned out hulk...never start a project of that size with limited funds and limited knowledge...you will get bogged down, lose interest and lose your entire investment

You can find better elsewhere.

That car will take a TON of $$$ to bring back to life. Not to mention the years of work it will take you.  :eek4:

I have a rock solid California car . Doing most of the work myself so far . It still needs paint and I am past the 10 k mark not counting the price of the shell. I do not even see any good parts in your pitchers . I have a 70 Cuda that has to much rust to save . If I could find a good shell I would be set . I would not try that one if I got it for free . Keep looking and saving . Sorry .

As everyone said, run. Seriously I would try to save a few more bucks and buy a more complete car with rust issues. Heck if you can get to 3500 I have an original 340(now 318) BS Cuda I'll sell you. It fairly complete but does have some rust issues. For the 2/3K extra it'll put you many thousands ahead in parts.  You'll save that in shipping costs from what you need to buy. Either way good luck

I think you have your answer on this one. But if your really wanting to through you hard earned cash away just send it to to someone that will put it to good work. All that piece of junk will do is make you broke and fast. There are a lot better places to put your money!!!!!!  Be patient and something will show up suner or later.

 :iagree:

Buy the best car you can afford as a starting point.

This is one that you'll NEVER finish, and will just be a blackhole for $$.

LOL

I've heard that... "Usually heat warps sheet metal so there will be a lot of high and low spots (ripples) on the individual panels. This won't really be apparent to an in-experienced person until the finish is sprayed on.  On a positive side, the steel in the body has been flame hardened, it will actually be harder than the original metal. This means it will be less likely to flex while it's being worked with.  But, this would be a lot of hours of work to bring back to a decent finish. Media blasting the entire body, would be only the first step on a very long journey." - quote from a friend

is this quote true or is my friend BSing me?

P.S. did I mention that I have limited funds ... ;)

I've been involved with heat treating for over 20 years and can tell you steel does not get harder from just getting hot. It has to be quenched to get harder or less flexible. Just getting burnt in a fire is going to make it softer if anything at all. I wouldn't want anything to do with this car just for that fact. Would you think the frame rails and suspension are not affected? Do not get this car unless you're just going to sell it for scrap metal.
