Took care of the rust on the front half of the inside surface of the roof! I had previously started on it but got it back to it and finished the front half today.

That looks like a real pain in the neck trying to work on it.

I had to replave mine with the new AMD, so i didnt have that ache. looking good.

to remove rust i attach a wire wheel to my grinder or i buy the wire wheels that can attach to adrill (electric) use all handles. did the whole car this way . have to wear the thick welding gloves . looks like its comming right along.

I don't know how many times I've been in the 'abrasive aisle' and never thought about picking up a wire wheel . I've been using a scotch brite disk in a drill... That had to be some work using a wire wheel on your whole car!!!

Do you have a decent compressor? If you do, fix replacements and look into blasting after. Way easier, but still not a fun task.

I couldn't imagine wire wheeling large amounts of rusty, scaly metal with a drill and wire wheel. =

i did it with a grinder and a wire wheel too , you buy the soft wire . yes its a long dirty job and i didnt have access to the normal sand blasting stuff but it worked rather well but you have to be VERY careful. used a butane torch and a scraper to remove old under coating . top cat is right its a very long process .

Yeah, I'm back working on the car!!! Today I dug out the door latches to find one not working right. A little PB Blaster and a little time freed it up. Then I tapped out all the holes for the door hinges. They were quite rusty and didn't want to risk breaking off any bolts while putting the hinges back on. Then I installed door latch and hinges on one door after removing a bolt that had broken off during disassembly. Gotta take a break for dinner and then after will get back out there and put the latch and hinges on the other door. I still have one more broken bolt to remove, will hopefully get that too!

It's not much, but it's forward progress!!!

Got the other bolt out of the door. Had to drill and tap it. Also installed the latch and interior door handles on both doors. The doors are ready to be put on to fit and weld the sheetmetal. Just need to be put on. Oh, I also put in the strikers for both doors.

Nothing done directly to the car but did bring home something to help me with it. Brought home new welder today!

Got a Lincoln ProMIG 180 as well as a cart & auto darkening helmet. Now just need to run a 240v outlet in the garage. Luckily, my breaker panel is in the garage!!!

Got out the sand blaster that I got from my brother-in-law and went to town. Since the AMD trunk braces don�t sit will against the Goodmark trunk pan, I decided to clean up the trunk braces originally on the car. They actually cleaned up quite well and will be easier to reinstall vs. using the AMD braces. Below is one of the braces before blasting and one after blasting. I also blasted the trunk hinges too.

Hey guys!
Just had to share, today was a major milestone in the resto of my car. Today, I actually started putting sheet metal onto the car!!!

First I mounted the trunk braces in on the floor pan using screws to hold them in place. I dug out my old gas tank to make sure I got them in the right place. Then I placed the trunk pan in the rear of the car. Then I pulled out the quarters that have been laying around for over a year and a half and got them put into place. I also started messing with one of the drop offs which is not fitting well at all.

This is all mock up right now. I'll be dropping the car from the rotisserie tomorrow (hopefully if I can get a little help) and then will continue the mock-up and fitment.
