    Hi Everyone!
    Over the last 5 months, I've been anxiously waiting for the day when I'd be tearing down '72 Barracuda that I brought home back in mid Jun this year.  At long last, I finally started stripping her down!  This is what I started with:





    So far, I've removed the piece in front of the hood, the hood latch base, hood latch vertical support, driver’s side fender, hood, hood hinges, fan, water pump, emissions canister, engine bay wiring harnesses, A/C components.  Lifted the car up and disconnected the shift linkage and removed the transmission mount bolts.  Then I loosened the engine mount bolts.  Now the wait until next weekend when my brother will be in town to yank the engine & trans.  I also removed all the guts (window tracks and door latch/lock system) and weather stripping from the driver's side door.

    Welcome Sean.  Looks like a lot of work but you can do it.  By the way....you need to find the table top that goes with those legs.........you're gonna need it.

    It will be great to watch your progress. Has Not been enough of these restor threads going on. i love to watch others, as it helps to keep me going. Good luck with the car and keep posting lots of pics of your progress. :2thumbs:

    Thanks folks for your encouraging comments!!!

    'cudaCruiser:  I can see through the floor (of the garage) on the driver's side under the pedals.  Has a couple pea size holes.  The rest of the floor pan appears to be good.  Will let you know soon after I get the seats out.

    dutch:  You got it!  Most pics will be for reassembly and for the diary I'm putting together to document the build.

    DAYLEY/CHALLENGER:  Yeah, about that table...  It and the legs too were part of a pretty big bon-fire!!!

    71chally416:  I walked away with the car for $5400.

    Some more progress today!!!  Removed both doors and hinges, passenger side fender, gauge cluster, dash pad, center console, heater core and ducts.

    Is that a Camaro/Chevelle steering column in there???

    Thanks guys!  I'll post progress pics when ever I make progress.


    sadil340:  To be honest, I have no idea what that steering column is from.  What ever it's from, it's too short.  My knuckles are only 2 inches from the dash pad!  It came with a second steering column which I believe is correct for the car.  I'll have to take some measurements and do some research to make sure.

    Ebodys had the  "Crush" can on the column.  That is correct.  It does look like a 69 Camaro steering wheel...........

    The car came with two steering columns, the extra being the one you described.  Were these 'crush' columns used in other Mopars as well?

    Today I removed the wiring harness, dash subframe, shift linkage, front seats, e-brake, gas pedal, visors, rear view mirror, seat belts, and wiper arms.  And had a little fun (that didn't involve a wrench or screwdriver)!!!  :giggle
