It can't be too abused if the label is still on it. IF it fits an E-Body as he claims, this is a bargain beyond belief.   :grinyes:

I've got a shroud for a 22-inch radiator, I bout it from Herb's Parts.  It is brand new... except for it being broken.   I bought it for my chally and broke it during the test fit.  Its been sitting in my garage for awhile now.  I ended up removing the mechanical fan and installing an electric fan which came with its own shroud.  Its yours for the cost of shipping.  Let me know if you are interested and I'll send a pic of the break.  It is definitely repairable.

The 440 would run with the temp gauge topped out in the Central Valley of CA., so I replaced with a 26" 3 row Brass type; I sawed the opening wider and hammered the bottom protector down, but it still got hot, then installed a Milodon High Volume Aluminum pump, not as hot but still middle of the gauge. The thermostat was 160* and was the old big brass type, I then found the Mr.Gasket High Perf. 180* with a larger copper pellet and the old style brass housing, so for an experiment I tried it and the gauge now runs at the first line. Conclusion: without the High Perf. thermostat the other upgrades are marginal. Also, I tried the thermostat with a high volume pump on the other car's 340 with a small radiator, and now the gauge has dropped to the middle, a marginal improvement again, but good enough for the drags since they are over quickly and it would otherwise take too long to warm up.

These overheating issues are worse than a thrown rod imo!  I chased the issue on my 340 all summer with only marginal gains for every attempt. My biggest gain was the shroud. My overheating  started after I replaced a cheapo flex fan and no shroud with a good clutch fan and aluminum fabbed shroud. Well, I also changed the intake and carb at the same time. Finally ended up with it running 190-200 range with outside temp in the 90s. Best of luck!

Thanks for the input guys.....I changed the top rad flex hose to a standard hose.....ran it for about 25 minutes and it ran about 190 in the cool night here (about 60 degrees out), but when stopped at a red light, you could see the temp start to rise.

I'll definately try the shroud idea...I'm waiting on Scatterbrain to send a pic but I';; most likely take it and throw it on to see how it does.

I think the shroud will be my last step until I can afford an alum. rad.  Since I'll be going BB soon, I'll just pick up one for my 440 when I have the funds and hope that resolves the issue.   :dunno:

I just sent you an email....that'll work!  :2thumbs:

I think I can find a way to fix that crack.....but I'm open to everyone else's ideas.....how would you fix it?  I was thinking Gorilla Glue some thin sheet metal and a few rivets/screws.....maybe?  :dunno:

bridge the brake with some thin stainless and rivet it.  :clapping:
