I was thinking about stepping up to 1.12" torsion bars, but haven't heard of anyone using them.

Is anyone using them, and if so, how do you like them?

Thanks,
Chris

Not quite yet. I have a set from Firm Feel about to go in though, I suffered a bit of a delay today and have to get a few more parts for my front suspension rebuild. Funny how many little things you end up replacing along the way.  :eek7:

I should know in less than a week if all goes well though...

1.12 to 1.16 is the size specified in most XV level 1 kits.

I agree, they have stated that stock mopars was underspringed in the front and overspringed in the rear.

I put .92 Tbars on my smallblock Challenger, but its still pretty squishy.  I thought the 1.12' with a 281lb spring rate would be more appropriate.  But I haven't found anyone thats using them.  They are listed for HD Solo/Roadracing so I guess that scares a lot of folks off.

Please speak up if your using the 1.12 or heavier bars, and tell me how they run on the street.

Thanks

I have been in 3 cars running the 1.25 bars , the adjusters end up being totally backed off to get the car to sit level & they are a stiff ride

Thanks for the reply.  I'm assuming you like it, because you keep using them.....is that right?   If not, what Tbars would you have rather used?

Thanks,
Chris

like maybe , they are very stiff , not sure I would use anything that big in my car unless I was racing it

I wouldn't put much faith in mopars description of the bars, but the  wheel rate they list is more important. 281 pound wheel rate is the equivilant of running 600# spring in an old chevy. This is just starting to scratch the surface of performance handling. Which is why XV specifys these bars in their street packages. Those who I've spoken to that have used the XV packages have said they love the feel and that it has transformed their cars to feel more capable and more modern without being too harsh.

I had 1.0 bars in one of my big block cars some time ago. I loved the way it rode as it was very firm, but not too harsh. 1.12 was the next step up, so it would have stepped up the firmness a little more.

I was looking for some 1.12 bars for my Challenger about a year ago when mopar was changing their price structure and couldn't find any at the old price. I did pick up some 1.22 bars, but I don't have them in yet.

Ya, I saw some of the bars that size listed at one of the online Dealerships at the old price.  But now they don't list that part number anymore...bummer.  Its funny that Chryco Pshycho has them and says they have a pretty stiff ride and not sure he wouldn't use them in a street car, and all the XV folks just love them and say they feel like a modern car.   I've never heard the XV cars described as stiff.  I wonder if the double adjustable shocks make that much of a difference.

Is anyone running double adjustable QA1s or similar in their cars?

CP has been in cars using the 1.22 bars, not the 1.12. That is a wheel rate difference around 110 to 125 pounds. Pretty significant difference in rate for only a .1 increase in diameter.

I'm running 1 inch. I have found them to be pretty good in terms of performance and not too harsh, even driving on bumpy country roads. I do have a small block, FWIW.

I was reffering to the large 1.22 bars , not the .1.12 , I didn`t hate the ride quality with the 1.22 but it gets to the point where the tires are doing more flexing than the bars , the last car I was in with 1.22 had 18" wheels as well which made the ride even more harsh as the tire could absorb very litte either

Thanks so much for the input guys.  Like I said the .92 feel a little luxurious.  I'll probably wait until I get my leaf bushings changed and get the 18's on, but I'll probably go with the 1" or 1.12" bars if I can find them.

One of the best things about Tbars is that they were so cheap.  I guess someone bought all the remaining Chrysler stock and almost tripled the price, which really sucks.  Over $300 for a 41 inch piece of steel is pretty high.....  At one point last year, I found the 1.12s at the old price at one of the online dealerships, I guess they got snapped up by XV or someone, because they are out of stock now, Bummer.

HK, would you consider going to a 1.12 Tbar, or is the 1" firm enough for you?
