Anyone running 1.12" Torsion Bars in their Ebody???? How you like them?

HK, would you consider going to a 1.12 Tbar, or is the 1" firm enough for you? 

I'd certainly think about. At this point I don't think I've had enough behind the wheel time with the new setup to really evaluate, plus I'm not through upgrading old stuff yet. That having been said, what I have, with my setup, feels pretty good.

Are those 15" wheels on your car now?   That may be something I need to take into account with my set up.   I'd like to try some 1.12s though.   If anyone has a set of 1" or 1.12"  that they'd sell, please let me know.

Firm Feel sells them, but they're $310. They also sell 1.0 and 1.06" bars. Looks like my brake lines are another couple of days out, but as soon as I have them in I'll post up info on the ride.

One of the best things about Tbars is that they were so cheap.  I guess someone bought all the remaining Chrysler stock and almost tripled the price, which really sucks. 

I know how you feel. The Mopar oil filter adapter I needed for my 5.7 hemi was $27 from Mopar, but they were on back order for over 3 months! Bouchillon Performance had them for $100, and I finally broke down and bought one from them. When I got it it had a Pentastar on it! Apparently Bouchillon got them from Mopar and put them in their own packaging and marked them up about $73!

Update!

I finally got the 1.12" torsion bars installed in my car. I don't have much drive time yet as I have some brake issues (ok, big brake issues), but so far they seem great. It's definitely a firm ride, but not harsh. It still rides softer than my SRT-4 did with upgraded aftermarket coilovers, and than either of the lifted trucks ('02 dakota, '71 ford) that I've had the pleasure of driving.

I definitely like a firmer ride, but in my opinion they're completely streetable. I still think the car will need a sway bar up front, and at this point I'd still consider the larger 1.18" bars that FFI sells. The torsion bar adjusters are interesting though. I know its still settling in, but right now the car is about stock height with the torsion bar adjusters set just so that there is tension. By that I mean that there's only one turn on the adjusters after the adjusters were set in the LCA's. I still think it will sag a little more as it settles in, but larger bars might be interesting when it comes to height adjustment. On the other hand, I'm only running a 318, so that comes into play as well.

I'll get more info up as I get to drive the car more.

You have firm feel t-bars, right? I've heard the larger MP ones don't have very good indexing that make it so you don't have much adjustment.  But can't at what size did that start to have a problem. IIRC, firm feel made theirs big bars to compensate for that.

Is anyone running double adjustable QA1s or similar in their cars?,im running the origonal stock r/t torsion bars i dont know what size they are but i do have the qa1 adjustable shocks and i lon=ve them 5 clicks on the front 2 clicks on the back and i street the car and run it on a road course and i like the feel not to stiff not to mushy

I have some single adjustable in the front. I like them. Not a huge dramatic change, but less wallowing.  I started at 2 clicks and went to 5. I have .99 T-bars.

Ever thought about coming out to Spring Fling Speed Festival? Seems there's a bunch of Colorado guys with Mopars they take on track (IMNCARN82, HP2, youself...) . You know Jess Neal? He came out in 2007. Loved the big Willow Springs track.

Thanks for the info.  That lack of adjustability seems like it could be a real issue.  I have mine lowered in front quite a bit, and plan on keeping it that way.  I'll have to find out more about the firm feel bars.  Did they actually produce their own bars?

According to the website the bars are made in house by FFI, and are stamped as such on the bars. I haven't been able to put many miles on the car because of some rotor problems, but I should have that taken care of in the next couple of days and see how much the car will settle down. At the moment the car is pretty much level, although the xhd's I have in the back sagged quite a bit so its fairly low in the back. I'll get some pictures of it once I can drive it around a bit more and see how much the new t-bars will settle in.

Oh, so you got yours from FFI then?   I see.  Did they tell you that they would "settle" some?  I hadn't heard of that for Tbars before...

Yup, the bars I have are FFI, they really seem to be one of the only places to get the larger bars. Just Suspension also sells a larger bar, but as far as I know they only have 1.09" bars, although I didn't call them. MP doesn't seem to make the larger bars anymore, I called around before going with FFI looking for MP bars and all were out of stock with no date for future stock. As far as settling in, all springs will sag a little after installation as the spring seats and wears, and t-bars are no exception. Larger bars like the 1.12"'s probably won't settle as much as smaller bars, but some sag does take place. FFI didn't mention anything specifically as regarding sag, but I didn't ask either as I just assumed they'll act like every other type of spring.

Is the picture in your avatar your car at its current ride height? Mine is definitely a little higher at the moment, but maybe only an inch or so. As soon as I can get my rotors swapped out I'll put on some more miles and post up some pictures.

Not exactly, I have the same size tires and rims, but I have rallyes now that came with the car.  The magnums went with my convertible when it sold last spring.   Its actually a little lower then in my avatar picture (~ .5-.75") and I am putting some relocated spring hangers on the rear to move in the springs 1" and drop it an inch or so, and will adjust the front accordingly, not much lower then it is now though. 

I've taken it off the road as of today.  I'm adding the spring hangers and an 8 3/4 rear with 3.73 SG (removing the 7 1/4), then stripping it down for a bodywork and a paint job, overdrive tranny and new 5.7 hemi.   I sure hope to be done by the start of summer, but we'll see.  They always say double your time and triple the cost estimate, but hopefully I can stay on track. 

I'd like to stab the thicker Tbars too with the double adjustable shocks, I just don't want it to be too stiff, this will be my daily driver. 


I wonder if there is any way to turn your bars around and index the lower control arm differently to give it more adjustability???  I've always thought they are symetrical, but it may be possible... what do y'all think?
