...I'm not 100% sure where to tape it out though, any pix would be appreciated. Thanks

1/2 way under the chrome & under the tailights

Hi,

up again. Pics says more then any words. I like to repaint mine too. Just got the new gaskets from DMT and have to disassamble the tail lights again.

Anyone with a close picture please?

Think I discovered it on this pic... Just for the records. If I'm wrong, just let me know.

It's tough to see with the tail panel on there. That's why I didn't post any pictures of my tail light bezels. From what I see in the picture, it seems correct.

I marked it with some red lines in the pic. But if you look on the outer side, there is a overhanging piece of the bezel and from there is an edging which I think what is the border of the paint. It looks like it from the picture and makes sense to me. On the other side I wonder why they hide the nice chrome, but if it is stock like this, I will apply some matte black on it for sure. Only found some rest of black on mine. And hey, I have lots of pittings in that area on my right side and can hide it under the black.

Since this came up again.......I decided to put my  :2cents: in........My original 1970 from the factory was a 340 non R/T and the tail panel was blacked out.....since I had the butt stripe....I think that is why some cars had it and some did not.........By the way.....the pic is from 1971 and I still have the woman........my wife......of 41 years come the 14th of August.

I couldn't get the pic to transfer and it was too big to post.........just go to the link and review the tail panel ...........................

Hi peeps,

did mine this spring with PlastiDip. Put some plastic primer on the chrome, then sprayed the fluid rubber (PlastiDip). Have pics if you want...

Looks good!

Got details on the primer and Plastidip?  Spray cans?

Sorry for the late reply...

Yes, all spray cans. First I used silicone remover on the cleaned chrome, then sprayed the primer that is used if you want to enamel plastic things, e.g. front bumpers on modern cars. It looks like clear lac with some silver powder in it. Last layer is the PlastiDip, which you can easily remove. So be careful when working with the tail lights and keep people away from it. But I think nobody will scratch on the tail lights when watching the car.

Look what the modern Challenger freaks are doing with PlastiDip.
