How do I love thee, CC.C... Allow me to illuminate...
« on: November 11, 2008 - 09:59:50 AM »
THIS...  This is why I will always remain active on the 'Cuda Board.  This is why even after acquiring my dream car - the Viper - I will never leave thy humble home...  This is why the Viper will be sitting in the Viper lot at Carlisle, but my butt will be under the 'Cuda-Challenger Tent!!

http://www.viperalley.com/forum/viper-discussions-gen-i/70604-why-there-no-cup.html

The question, though naive, was legitimately asked...  The responses - from VIPER OWNERS - were simply depressing.

I couldn't  :iagree: more!!!  This site is full of givers, and in this day and age of takers and look out for #1, it's really nice to belong here.

The Viper Alley site reminds me more of my old Stratus club than anything else - a bunch of imature, foul-mouthed individuals with nothing constructive or meaningful to contribute to the community - so it's just a bunch of lude images, profanity, and insults.

Yet when someone - like me - posts a question about adding an aftermarket stereo (far more complicated in the Viper than I expected!) I received NO help...

Wow, definitely a different atmosphere. :screwy:  I always enjoy coming by here to get a taste of how real auto enthusiasts act.  The other site I'm a relatively active member at (3si), some of the members always try to turn posts into a game of who can p*## the farthest over the Internet. ::)  It's about as informative of a forum as C-C.com, but the friendly atmosphere here blows this site out of the water, IMO. :2thumbs:

That's basically what I'm seeing over there - people ask a question, and they don't get answers.  Instead, they get insulted for not already knowing the answers, and if they're lucky, will get an answer as part of the insult.

Unfortunately, I've seen many instances where the answers being given are flat-out WRONG, or simply NO ONE knows the answer and so the topic is just completely avoided.

Understand this - I might not know a whole lot about 'Cudas or Challengers - guys like Al, Neil, Stroker, can tear one apart bolt by bolt and freakin' put it back together, sans instructions.

My expertise is in electrical work, computer diagnostics, OBDII systems, etc.  So when someone is asking about check engine lights or modifying a modern vehicle, I'm all over it.  And when I see the questions that these guys are asking that I could easily answer with some homework, and all they're getting is crap for even asking, it makes me not want to even get involved.

It's one of the few things that I think is keeping me from fully enjoying my new Viper experience.

Jeff, You seem like a decent enough person, I doubt that you will enjoy hanging out there at all. They are just not a very friendly group, too bad they(most of them) give Viper Owners a bad name.

Probably because it and the Viper were built for similar purposes....

Mike,
If you need to borrow a hole saw, just let me know the diameter of yopru favorite cup.

I WILL find a way to add cup holders to mine or make a new one that has them.

Hey, thats pretty cool. You could even make multi-size cup holders with that much room. Good idea that  :2thumbs:
