some one correct me if wrong ,,,,,, no threads on TB's just stamped steel welded to body.......
I think what you are seeing is where the spring bolts marked the metal plates on the rear torque boxes, there is reinforcment plates welded on each side making it look like threads in that picture.

:wow:I have been away for a bit, and i come back and i find a lot of great information and help. Dang i love the internet and CC. Thanks for all the input and pictures too. I am still undecided as to what i will do, but am leaning towards installing boxes and frame connectors. May have to wait a bit and let my wallet recover, it lost a lot of weight lately (daughter in college) :1zhelp:

I'm a firm believer in the torque boxes and frame connectors.

Here's pics of 1) the front torque boxes which are standard on all ebodies and 2) the rear torque boxes which come standard on convertibles, hemi and 440-6 cars.  For front and rear the torque boxes tie the frame rails into the side rockers.  The torque boxes are important but I think the frame connectors help to add the most rigidity to the unibody.
Am i missing something here. Could it be i already have front torque boxes on my Chally?

Sure anything is possible  and the odds get better if ya have a Hemi or 440 Six pack but  its been confirmed that not all 440 six pack cars have the torque boxes,,,,,,,,,,,,  Look at the pics then look at your car , tell us what you have..

All convertibles got them from /6 up. 440-4 cars and up got them as well. Some I am sure missed that important stop on the construction trail but they still should have had them originally.

Another vote for them. Another test put a jack under the front spring mount. Measure the door to quarter gap before jacking it up and then as you lift the car. You will be surprised even on a rust free car.
With the frame connectors and the boxes you will notice a big difference on how solid the doors sound when you close them, the car is much more rigid.

Farmboy:  Where did you buy your torque box plates and subframe connectors??
Were you happy with the quality and fit???
Big block dart forum suggests box tubing for subframe connectors, cut thru floor back by the rear spring frame rail.  Looks very strong.  Any comments or opinions??
I'd like to hear from other members too, so look forward to some great info.  Thanks in advance.

you'll never regret having them on,but if you don't use the car what it was intended for and put less than 100 miles a year, then don't waste your time or money, just keep dusting it off ,lol

Unless you are going to race your car I wouldn't put in the subframe connectors that you have to cut your floor. There are several different styles that are more than you will ever need, some bolt in and another is welded to your floor pan as it is cut to fit. This one is probably better done on a rotissorie.   :working:

Hey CP,

Your Challenger is a weird one for sure.................i am thinking it is a finish Friday start Monday car. Theory for "Poduction line workers".......... Finish the the front half on the Friday and fit the torques boxes with the R/T stuff and hurry cause we have a big weekend planned. Then on Monday after the big weekend on the drink, back it in the paint shop on Monday morning and spray the FT6 Tan bum stripe and forgot the rear torque boxes because they were off there chops :drunk:

Kidding :2thumbs: but who knows :dunno: possible.
