Don't you hate it when People paint over used parts
« on: November 16, 2008 - 04:09:03 PM »
I hate it when I see used parts that cant be installed untill rebuilt or restored.  Painting over rust and bad areas is not a good way to try to make a buck. It hurts the seller in my eyes in the long run

I will have to admit I'm more likly to buy a cleaned and painted part over a grease ball in most cases. I think taking the time to spiff it up shows an effort instead of just throwing out junk parts. :2cents:

Yeah, like painting those heads over the exhaust ports. We all know it would/should be an orange engine.   You can see the rust in the block to. It just erks me to see that done and waste the time doing it. Might not be dishonest, but is sure misleading.  Bet those parts dont even match the assembly

It might have been a boat motor? But spent some time under water.   :faint:  Painting might have slowed the rusting process down some.   :stirpot:

Cleaning and painting a decent part makes it look better but painting a rusted piece of junk makes it look like they are trying to screw you.

Those exhaust manifolds look horrible, but at least he admits they are rusty and in bad shape. The rest of the engine is another story!

I have a friend that owned a derusting/stripping shop a couple of years ago.  Some of his clients would be ready to cry once they saw their high dollar cars, quarter panels and fenders after de-rusting and stripping.  Many parts had been  bondo'd, fiberglased and primed before being shipped to the unsuspecting buyers.  I had this happen to me too.  I think it buys the seller some time before the sh*t hits the fan.   :stomp:

Based on the Ebay user name.....

The seller's GF is a member here.

Hopefully she is not offended by the comments?  :dunno:

Comments are easy, usually the bad comments are the easiest, sadly, it is human nature.

I just wanted to make sure everyone knew that the comments were directed in some ways towards a member here since she is part of the business.

Like Mom always said, if you have nothing good to say.........................

The original 340 6 pak blocks and heads are different, not the 440's. Trying to push them as being something special is a little seedy, unless you believe the HP2 stamped on the pad is worth the extra $1,000.  :dunno:

:iagree: However if she is a member here maybe she can clairify some of the questions being raised about the parts being sold.
