Need advice about color change
« on: November 18, 2008 - 03:29:40 PM »
Hello i would like to get input about doing a color change on my car. My car is a original black on black car, i am not a big fan of black so i am considering painting my car a diffrent color.

The car is already jamed in black and has been put back together, my idea is to keep the hood, trunk and jams black and carefully tape the car off and paint the rest of it fire red, same color as seen in the photo posted. All suggestions welcome. Thanks

Personally I would paint the jams, there are ways to do it together if you don't want to take the car apart. If you are ever put in a situation where you have to sell the car it will be very difficult to get a decent price if the jams are a different color.

What about a 2-tone?  Or a set of decals to make it new for you.

Might look sharp with a Silver or Red top on the black, plus the jambs and trunk, etc still is ok.

Yeah i was thinking about 2-tone as well... i seen a car on here the other day that had a silver checkered decal down the sides that looked good but don't know where i seen it at.

I don't know what to do the black cudas seem so plain, it need something to doll it up a bit but nothing has struck me yet.

Black is the most beatuful color on any car,I'd never paint my car with that ugly mootang red,if you choose red, atleast find a nice red,Porsche Guards Red,Ford Performance Red, or if you like pearl metallic color,Matador Red Mica  06-up Lexus ,it's a very vibrant color and looks like a candy paint ,at this point only Du Pont makes is in regular basecoat/clearcoat, all other paint brands make it only in 3-stage,which means more hassle and more $$

I like black but its a pia to keep looking good. Easy to show imperfections and swirls, bugs like to become part of the paint also. I say do what you want and make it yours. I have been in the same position as you and ultimately even though you welcome the advice, you end up doing what your heart tells you to anyway. Keep us posted

Mike

now why would i want to turn my cuda in to a challenger?

Thanks for the advice guy's... i am going to stick with the original color since original would be the best way to recover most of my money when i decide to sell. I will look in to decals instead since these can be removed if needed.
