dream came tru
« on: November 19, 2008 - 01:48:10 AM »
hi fellow e-bod lovers, my name is shawn, im 26 and i finally got my hands on a challenger. And i found it here in canada :canada:I have always been a mopar guy.my dad bought me a 76 dart sport when i was 10 years old.he fixed it up a bit and when i was 16 we did all the body work together sanded it down and got it painted candy apple red. it had a stock 318 and a 4 speed OD. what a sweet ride for your first car huh.everyone else in my school had ricers.but it didnt take me long to loose my licence :banghead:,so the car was parked for a while.Having no licence and a subscription to highperformance mopar does not mix.....or does it...this led to rebuilding a 360 with kb pistons, 340 X heads, comp cam, air gap intake ect. so i got my licence back and  burned some serious skinny tire rubber.then i started 1/8 mile drag racing but still had an 8.25 open rear :roflsmiley:I couldent afford to build a strong 8.75 so i had to build a 9 inch with 4 30s and a mini spool. sorry guyes but it was all i could afford. now the car really mooved i couldent believe the power it had with the new rear. but my cockey young ledfoot got me into trouble and i wrapped it around a pole :pullinghair: i hit it so hard that my tire broke off the axle and was rolling down the road. The hardest part of all was telling my dad :walkaway: anyway i pulled all the new drivetrain out of it and sold the wrecked dart. so the hunt for a new dart started but i have always loved challengers so i looked at them too but all the challengers i found were way over my budget. I took my time looking and after about a year i finally found a challenger i could afford. and it was even in my hometown kelowna BC. its a 71 with lots of rust, missing motor tranny, tail lights, bumpers,GRILLE,trunk lid, other then that it was all there. It looked like it had just been sitting in his back yard rotting for 20 years. But for some strange reason i had to have it. I could have bought a dart or duster in great condition for the same price, dropped my 360 in it and be crusing it right now. oh well i know ill be much happier when im done, especially with the mods i have in mind. basically i want the pro touring style (4 link, caged,XV gussets and braces,18 inch rims, ect)but then i want it as light and clean as possible(fiberglass front end and dash, light racing seats ect) So far i have stripped the car cut out the quarters and got it media blasted. now i have been welding up all the holes and making small patches out of sheet metal. I WILL GET PICKS AS SOON AS I FIGURE OUT HOW TOO. im not the best with computers. well that was way too much typing so i look forward to talking and sharing info with you all  :working:

ps sorry about the jiant pick

  Hi Shawn and welcome to the site.   Your '71 looks like it will be a cool project.  Just try to stay away from poles when you get her running.

Welcome, when you put all the hard times in completely, chasing the parts yourself and putting it together you will appreciate the car even more, as said before ,watch out for poles...   :woohoo:

Howdy Shawn, You sound like a Dude that knows what he wants...Good looking project from what I can see.... As for pictures, do yourself a favor and get a photobucket or similar account to host them, then all you have to do is copy & paste links. It helps if you upload them in a smaller format so that all of the picture will fit on a screen.I don't even bother to upload on my computer, just get them directly off the camera.

Welcome to C-C.com....Ebody Nirvana  :smokin:
