About ready to get this rustang..err Mustang out of the garage
« on: November 19, 2008 - 10:13:47 AM »
Mopars are getting grumpy having to share garage space with a pony. Got the thing running pretty well, needs some brake work (about everything), and hoping to let the thing go here pretty soon. Not too shabby for a $650 car, had some hiccups in the engine (heads needed a valve job/couple springs/etc)...other than that things went together fairly decent for never working on an old Ford.

As you could imagine, I prefer the no granny hubcap look

I owned a 64 1/2 about a dozen years ago, brought it back to Australia, it was the 148th one built. It was a numbers matching & had a 289, 4 speed, pony interior. Many of the first mustangs had either 6cyl's or 260 V8s and some had 3spd manuals.
It was first registered middle of March '64 which was about a month before they were offically released, some trim and exterior were slightly different to the released version and no it had the original interior, the only external difference was a Hurst 'T' handle shifter and dragway mag wheels.

It would be fun to have a little Mustang like that someday.  They are good looking cars.   :dunno:
