I've heard that the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 6.1 exhaust manifolds fit in Ebodies for the 5.7 hemi conversion.  But I haven't heard from anyone that has actually used them.

Has anyone used anything other then the factory cast log manifolds or TTI headers for the hemi swap?   If so what did you use, how do you like it, how much were they and any tips to making them work?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris, I saw your other post in my thread, but I'll answer here.  The passenger side manifold on my truck 5.7 is a brand new 5.7 Cherokee manifold.  Was about 80 bucks from the dealer, and made fitting it much, much easier.  The stock truck manifold would not have worked without firewall modification.   :eek4:

Thanks Steve.  Thats a stock 5.7 Cherokee manifold right?  Is it cast iron or stainless.  The SRT8 ones are like stainless shorty headers, very nice.  Thats what I'm hoping to use, but haven't found anyone using them.

I just can't hardly stomach $700+ for headers....

Yes, stock 5.7 Cherokee manifold.  Its cast iron, only the 6.1 came with the factory stainless "shorty" type header.  I know, headers seem to be crazy expensive still.  And I dont want to buy something that wont fit.  Someday I'll get some, even if I have to make my own, but the factory ones flow just fine for now.

I have the TTI headers on mine, but it looks to me like the only issue to using the 6.1 tubular exhaust manifolds MIGHT be on the tube for cylinder #1 and the steering box, and then probably only if it was the bigger power steering box. There should be no problem at all with making an exhaust pipe to connect to the collectors that will clear the torsion bars.

Can you send me a picture of the 6.1 JGC manifolds in your car?  That might be the ticket to tell me whether I can use them or not.

thanks,
Chris

Dodgeboys,  Do you think milling the mating surface of the drivers side at an angle would let it slip in without interfering with anything?

Sorry crazy weekend

let get you some installed photos so you can see what I have in that area.

I think the starter would become a challeng if you did that. I will put a tape on it and see.

I also have some photos with the 6.1 on a stock K frame that may help you also.
