Challenger quarters
« on: May 04, 2004 - 10:05:30 PM »
Has anyone else noticed that Auto Body Specialties now has in their catalog full OEM style Challenger quarter panels? These aren't just quarter skins. These are the entire quarters that extend halfway up the c-pillars. The catalog says "call for price", so I'm guessing that they don't have them in stock yet. They also have 68-69 full OEM Road Runner quarters in the catalog.
Now if only they will do full quarters formy 68 Charger..

These are probably the panels that Goodmark is making right now, or will be available very soon.

Go to the following page:

www.goodmarkindustries.com/MoparE7074.html

You will see that they have now listed the OEM quarters as "Currently being tooled." There is no price listed as of yet.

I spoke with Sales there yesterday and the 'Cuda quarters are anticipated to be ready in about a year.

Didn't ask about other makes specifically, BUT I have heard rumors (I talked with Barry up in PA) about Goodmark reproducing sheet metal for other Mopars. And yes, fenders are in the works for both the Challenger and the Cuda. Imagine being able to buy nice, new fenders!

What has surprised me most is the time and money involved in replicating these parts. The tooling cost for these quarters is probably over $250K!

My suggestion is that all of us who need Mopar sheet metal talk with the Goodmark guys and let them know. I have been told by a couple of guys who do restoration work for a living that the Goodmark metal is so good that it fits just like original sheetmetal. On the other hand, the other guys are making patch panels and stuff that are more work than they are worth!

Us Cuda guys will have to wait about a year for the Cuda quarters to come out.
