Shingles????
« on: November 21, 2008 - 05:58:59 PM »
Anyone have any experience with them, and I don't mean the roof kind. Any doctors in the house?
Dave

I know 2 people who have had shingles recently.  Not a fun experience at all, very painful.  Have you seen a doctor?  If not, I would.

I found a link on some treatments that can be offered to you.  http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/shingles/DS00098/DSECTION=treatments-and-drugs

I hope you (or whoever has them) are feeling better soon!

They are the chicken pox the second time. Very painful if you get them in the head-face. If you get to dr early they can minimize them. I had them-made me very tired

My Mother had them about 13 years ago. I knew nothing about them. I just figured it was from the stress she was under at the time.   :dunno:

That is what I am going thru now, I can work about 4 hours then just wiped out.
The reason I asked is the doctor perscribed pain meds for a month with a refill so I'm guessing this is a long haul kind of thing.I guess I caught a break since mine are on the ribbs and back not effecting my eye sight.

My cousin has them now.  She keeps complaining about the pain.  Get well soon.

I'm sure her doctor will prescribe some thing to help with the pain. They gave me Vicodin and it works pretty well.

When my mother had them we found that arthritis pain relief cream helped with the pain. Everyone is different. It might help. If you have them your body's PH should be in an acid state. Steps can be taken to get you body in a alkaline state. This will help the shingles diminish. You can do an internet search on it.

I understand there is a vaccination for the over 60 crowd, that is given to prevent  Shingles.

I remember my mom having them around her waist. She said they were quite painful. I believe they are caused by the chicken pox virus as it never leaves your body once you have them.

And you can get them over and over.  Hopefully you won't, but i know a woman who seems to get them every year.  I heard Stress can play a major role in reoccurence.
