cd player goes off at 40 mph ???
« on: November 25, 2008 - 05:03:24 PM »

 Hi guys,
newbie Neil here.    I fitted a sony minidisc player into my glove box and wired it straight to the battery with an inline fuse.

Problem is it shuts down above 40 mph and goes off,  but when i slow down again to idle it comes back on again !!!!

Has this happened to anyone else............any ideas ?

                                                                cheers, cudaneil. :clueless:

Sorry I had to be the one to break you in.....  :misbehaving: Welcome  :newbie: , thats a crazy thing.

How is it wired into the system? Is it tied into the accessory plug in the Fuse box?

is the player for car use?  if not it might have problems with vibration in the car... :dunno:  if so, get the wheels balanced or dump the player.... :violin:

btw... you posted in the new challenger section... :misbehaving:

Well, this is a long shot, but if your voltage regulator isn't regulating voltage, the voltage may get too high for your radio at a certain RPM and it shuts itself down.

Your speedometer is faulty. You are actually going faster than 600 mph, which is the speed of sound. You cant hear the player because the sound is then behind you.

I'm actually thinking the opposite thing. The voltage regulator can't keep up as the engine demands more at higher RPM's.

Again...IS this a new Challenger, or have you posted in the wrong place??   :dunno:

Well, First of all sorry for posting in the wrong section(maybe i need glasses)  and secondly i like your sense of humour round here !    :roflsmiley:

Double thankyou for the helpful replies , 6 pack i hope you are right as i have ordered a new regulator on the strength of it !

I did have a similar problem with my 66 stang, but that was a mechanical regulator with points in it,fitted an electronic one.....fine !

My 72 cuda already has an electronic one..........but it could be faulty i suppose.     :2thumbs:
