my 6pk complete
« on: November 29, 2008 - 05:50:38 PM »
I'm thinking that I wanna do a different top end on my engine for now.   Right now I have a complete 70 cast iron set up on my car. It is all original and runs perfect. It is still on the car now.

How much do you think I should ask if I run an add for it?    These are early 4 spd carbs and intake, ECS cali carbs to.  I would sell everything from the breather to the brackets. The air cleaner is the only aftermarket part I bought from a dodge dealer.

The carbs work perfect with no issues at all and open immediately when throttled. You can hear when they do. I use them with a comp ex275 hl cam.  Idles good and I know they work to 6500 rpms. That's all I have spun the engine up to. I get 14-16 mpg when just cruisin in the hill country. And have 354 gears with 275x60x15 t/a radial on the back.

I may sell the rebuilt heads and short block to

Stroker has me wanting a bit more power lately.  906 heads 214/181  kb 237 pistons. around .010 in the hole with eagle rods and a standard/standard crank.  I dont have 1000 miles on it yet.

I will take the intake off with everything attached, even the coil.   What is a good price?

Hi Alan,  Because it is date coded stuff and it is used i would guess a figure around a few hundred more than what it would cost to buy the whole assembly new, at a guess of course.  The Date coded is what will pump the price up over the new stuff.

As for your heads, well.  It may be best to include them with the six pack set up or get what you can for them.  Good luck with your decision on what power level you want out of it, just do not go to far from why you built the M46, to cruise in :2thumbs:

that's good to know I guess. But the heads I wouldnt just throw in unless I strip them down.  When you add up titainium retainers, new valves , new guides, new hardend seats, new springs, the cost goes up a bit I'd think.  I was thinking of tieing the frame together, pulling the 4 speed and maybe doing around 600-650 hp.  putting a smaller dana in for bigger tires and 456 gear with a 4500 stall. Indy heads and a roller cam.

I was not suggesting to just simply throw the heads in, i know what you have got tied up in them.  The problem is what you can buy Aluminum ones for now.

I would definetly tie the chassis together with chassis connectors if you plan on that much power, no doubt their will be some monster torque to go with it.  Indy headed monster for a streeter sounds real cool, just do not cut into the M46 old mate.  You know what it is, and can do what you plan with out damgin the car.   Just do not go as radical as the 72 old mate.

That would be a good buy for someone as a complete unit for sure.

You could ask more but sit solid on that $3,500. no lower, could not build what you are offereing, not for that money.

Hey Alan, I hate to say this but you know what I have been going thru trying to sell my 70/71 set up and mine are completely restored to perfection, nada, no one, nobody only lookers. I had them on Ebay, here, and Moparts and they are still in the garage all wrapped up. I finally decided to sell the Air cleaner setup because I had guys all over it but not the carbs and manifold, it just didn't make sense, but what do I know. I started at $2200 and I have worked the price way down and still NO ONE...... Mine are still in the for sale area and you saw the responses, don't get your hopes up too high in this market, good luck.... as always, this is my opinion, and as my ex wife said to me everyday, "you are a dummy" and don't know anything, she was right, I thought she was the right one but I found out quickly I was wrong.....

I would think it would be easier to sell the motor complete as long as you leave it in the car so anyone could drive in it and see how it runs. Selling an induction system for over 2K has to be a tough sell in today's economy, unless it has a supercharger attached  ;D

I saw a complete 440-6pk package with a brand new rebuilt motor (never run), new intake, carbs, air cleaner, everything ready for pickup for $6K.  It was on the market for months and still may be, but I haven't checked lately.  I figured the $$$ was to high, but the market is certainly not what it was three years ago.
