XV Gauge Cluster
« on: November 29, 2008 - 08:26:03 PM »
What does everyone think of the XV gauge cluster? Im considering stashing my Rallye gauges till i restore my car to original, and mabey running some aftermarket gauges and cluster in the mean time. Does anyone else make a custom cluster?

This is a work in progress shot of my dash. Door panels and center console match as well.

I too made my own.
I used a stainless frame that was based on some layouts I liked then stuffed it with Autometer gauges and finished it off with an aluminum front.

If you already have Rallye gauges, use it.

They can make the tach accurate and some places can convert the AMP gauge to a VOLT gauge.  Get a custom font and silk screen and it will look better IMHO than the XV unit.  Especially w/an overlay (or Hydrographics treatment) on the gauge panel and it will look very custom.

XV unit....$$$ plus the cost of the gauges.

Like a lot of people, I build mine from sheet metal...16 gauge.  I used a 3 3/8" Speedo and Tach and put in 2 1/16" gauges for temp, fuel, oil, vac and volts.  I also inset my shift light and line lock button.  Because the bottom of my gauge pack is straight, I had to get a Rallye heater control ($170).  I think my dash and gauges cost less than the XV dash.

Sorry for the double-post.   :misbehaving:

I finished mine with Krylon Winkle Paint and am using the standard switch panel.  I think it really turned out well.

Auto Meter Ultra-Lite Analog Gauges
Gauge, Ultra-Lite, Fuel Level, Empty/ Full, 73 Ohms/ 8-12 Ohms, 2 5/ 8 in., Analog, Electrical, Each

ATM-4415

But mine is flakey....when Full, it reads F.....but it bounces all around when driving and when it reads 1/4 it's more like 1/2.  Let me know if you have better luck with the 90 ohms one.
